We're 10th No threat of relegation Manager has never been relegated Manager has got us from bottom end of the Championship to Premier League Manager has made us into a solid mid-table Premier League club ... and most importantly, who else is there?

I'm sure there are many people out there who could do a good job for us.

Yeah, there aren't any other managers out there, every other manager on the planet is just a hologram created by evil scientists that would self-destruct and blow up the stadium if one ever replaced Pulis.

Not a manager out there? What about the one in the other dugout - and I said that, pre-match.

Not a manager out there? What about the one in the other dugout - and I said that, pre-match. Ah yes, the man who continues to lead Wigan into relegation scraps and just about gets away with it each year. Perfect upgrade on a steady mid-table manager (albeit a not very exciting one!) A sideways move at a push, but more probably a backwards step

Not a manager out there? What about the one in the other dugout - and I said that, pre-match. He certainly does a 'good' job at Wigan and has done so on far less money than Pulis has had at Stoke. That said the 'good job' that he has done consists of playing some nice football whilst surviving by the skin of his teeth each season. They have also been 'hammered' with some shocking score lines this past few seasons. You could argue that he has been very lucky to stay in the Premier League but then, that's a pretty good achievement at a club like Wigan. I do respect the fella and appreciate he's done/is doing a good job. However, I'm not sure he's done any better a job than Pulis or would do so at Stoke with better funding. He did take over an established Premier League team whereas Pulis built one from nothing and continues to 'hold his own' in the top division (considerably better than Wigan do). Martinez has done well. Pulis has done BETTER (IMO) even allowing for the financial advantage he's had since Wigan have still managed to find better footballers but have a less successful team. The evidence might suggest that Martinez (at Stoke) would have the money to sign better footballers but have a worse team. It's a fair debate IMO.

If he was also a fat northerner and not a suave Spaniard he wouldnt get half the praise. Not knocking whats he done at Wigan, but just because he plays a different style doesnt make him any better

Perhaps it's my age, or perhaps it's my preference for plain English punctuated correctly, but I don't have a clue what you're talking about.

See, as much as I'm not a PHW in any regards whatsoever. That argument is the most redundant shite ever. It was overused last season and pretty much became a joke when we found ourselves much lower by the end. That said, I think any other manager wouldn't put as much heart into Stoke as TP does. I'll never forget the game where he came back from the funeral to rally us to win.

How many of the current premier league managers have never been relegated? 5? 10? 15?? theres a metric fucktonne of managers who've never been relegated, but Pulis is the only one that harps on about it. Sums his attitude up and sums up the kind of job he's suitable for.
Firefighers do a skilled valuable job, but you dont keep em around when you want to actually build something

Why would firefighters be there before something was built? Was something there before?

Pulis in all his years in managment has won feckall. 2 promotions, none has champions, never won a cup, lost a playoff final, lost FA Cup final. There plenty of managers out there with a better CV than that.

The kind of attitude that assumes everything will burn down if it isnt monitored intensely is whats holding us back. but yeah, as you've so kindly pointed out the rest of the firefighter metaphor doesnt really scan so we should really leave it there ;D

Bloody health and safety gone mad!

If we cannot experiment when we are safely in mid table then there is no future for Pulis at the club imo.We should be enjoying a free playing and exciting team without any threat of relegation. We have the complete opposite.
