Yesterday me and my 5 year old boy headed for Swansea on the train from Stoke. At quarter to 1 my train got stuck in the Severn Tunnel due to the snow. www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Severn-Tunnel-delays-train-breaks/story-17903581-detail/story.htmlWe did not make the game and ended up getting a train back home. 2 x match tickets £56.50, £60 on train tickets and about £25 blown on food and drink provisions. We saw nothing and spent a day pissing about on the cross country train network. Bristol Parkway incidentally is a grim grim place. Do you think if I write to Stoke City and send my unused match tickets along with my used train tickets they might offer me a token gesture for my futile efforts ? Or shall I just write this one off as a bad day !

Its worth a try mate you've got nothing to lose. Can't you get a refund from the train company?

Why waste more of your time? In my opinion you got a lucky escape having to watch that dross. Stoke should give all supporters who went their money back

If Stoke refuse can you not get in touch with the train company to see if they will compensate you.

You will get some compensation from the train company, something vaguely similar happened to be when I was going to the Scottish Grand National and I got about 75% of all my conkers back.

Write to the club and also to the manager. If any of those players ever read anything on this forum ( god help em if they do) they should have a whip round. Im sure they could afford it.

you neve know, can you get your money back for a ticket before the game, Before last seasons Arsenal game I tried to get a refund on my ticket because of the forecast and to save a trip. They weren't having any of it and alas we were told it was called off the moment we stepped out of the Arsenal tube station. Twas an adventure though.

Next time you go to an away game take TP with you.
This may unfortunately spoil your day should you get stuck again but will make a lot of other people very happy.
I would personally contribute to any expense incurred

When I went to Arsenal away and it got snowed off, I managed to get my money back from Virgin in train vouchers.

I would as the weather in this case was exceptionally bad. I would expect the club to offer to exchange the tickets for another away game. From the clubs perspective it would be the courteous thing to do and keep a travelling fan - who'll likely spend a lot of money on away games in the future - happy. Of course, I would expect the fan in question to provide evidence

Most rail companies will refund at least 50% of the initial fare for delays of 30 minutes or more.

Let me tell you, I made it all the way to Swansea and I have to say you were probably better off missing the match as you did. Unless its West Brom or Blackburn (who arnt with us anymore) then we never go to away games trying to actually win, you would think after 5 years at the top level we would be better away from home but Pulis is just so damn negative.

The clubs obviously not liable, but as a goodwill gesture, they could exchange the tickets. It wouldn't impact them at all and would send a positive message to the supporters.

Surely those who actually made the game should be the ones wanting a refund?
