I remember going to see our reserves against Villa reserves back in 2008 and that reserve team seems to be their first team now. An exaggeration i know however it's quite strange how in a relatively short space of time, and i know 4 years is a long time in football. But just how different Aston Villa are nowadays.
Today was just a very bad day at the office for them, but for many years of my life Aston Villa were a force to be reckoned with, a decent squad, great support and so on. I first "got into" football back in 1988/89 and i remember Villa were recently promoted from Division 2 and they narrowly avoided relegation, then in 89/90 nearly won the First Division title under Graham Taylor. Since then they've always been decent, give or take a bad season and had some very very good players.
Nowadays when you look through their matchday squad it's a veritable "Who's That?" of professional footballers.
Villa fans but be wondering what the hell has happened, they now have a squad that's not even as strong as a newly promoted sides.
Just my views on Villa, i'm not saying they're shit as they played ever so well last week but i've never minded Villa that much and it must be bizarre for their supporters.

Villa had done well, and went on a decent run when we drew away against them. It was a good result.
But, my god this score is bad. Rafa is doing okay I think.

I don't feel quite so bad about us going for 7 at Chelsea 3 seasons ago now.

Villa's results are what you'd expect from a team full of kids which is what they are pretty much, sometimes it all comes together for them eg Liverpool, at others they can get torn apart eg today. Against us they were somewhere in the middle.
Isn't this the second time they've been spanked 7 or more down there recently? Seem to remember Martin O'Neill looking a bit shell-shocked during an interview? Could be wrong.

I actually feel sorry for Villa but only because they've taken a pasting off such a vile club.
Were the sad Chelsea fuckers doing there pathetic 'one di matteo' song after 16 minutes again or have they given up now?
Horrible wankers.

Nope still doing the RDM chant on the 16th minute
Thing is, it's a stab at Roman, they would be screwed if he decided to pack up

Thing is nowadays, some managers use things as an excuse to stay longer in a job than someone else. Lambert has been clever because he knows villa are shit and got not much money, so he chose to go with kids as fans wil give Lambert more time. Clever
Like managers who go in a club saying ' give me three years and we'll be like Barcelona' it's just bollocks. Other honest managers get hounded out unless you keep on about possession or kids.
All very clever on their part

I have to say that was probably the most abject performance I have ever seen from a prem team. They were simply awful. I don't think they put on a tackle all afternoon. The laughable thing is that the media after villa win at Liverpool were suggesting that Lambert was the next Ferguson, Benteke was the future Drogba and Ashley Westwood yes the same Westwood from Crewe was a wonderkid. The feckin media surrounding the prem is embarrassing. Also some on here who were suggesting Lambert, who reminds me of Tyrone off Coronation St, would be perfect for our next manager. Lambert is another manager who gets all the plaudits merely because he is young and his team are easy on the eye' whatever that means, lets see if he keeps them up.

I reckon lambert will defuse the situation by playing six twelve year olds in his next game. This will take the pressure off himself as fans love young local lads breaking through.
Never mind lambert just keep peddling out that if they give you another three years wages in the job these 'super kids' will have villa pushing for the title. Then if it doesn't you've suckered the chairman and the fans into 3 years pay.
