www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/stop-the-barthomley-development-stop-the-developmentThis government's (spokesmen Eric Pickles and Nick Boles) has promised not to build on Green Belt, yet the deputy leader of the Cheshire East Council has said it is going to force through a new Strategic Open Gap policy as a replacement for the current ‘green gap’. A rural community in Cheshire East near to the North Staffs/South Cheshire border has come together to oppose a planning proposal put together for the Crewe Estate, which is owned solely by the Duchy of Lancaster. The proposal will DESTROY 677 acres of GREEN BELT land, with 4250 HOUSES being built and an INDUSTRIAL PARK! Please help an otherwise defenceless community, saving local farming jobs and their homes, in the face of bulling tactics employed by the government and the Duchy (our royal family). Note:- The Duchy of Lancaster has been recently valued in excess of £400 million in assets.

Disgusting how nothing is ever built where factories used to be or brown belt land, I guess people with money don't want to live there.

Disgusting how nothing is ever built where factories used to be or brown belt land, I guess people with money don't want to live there. Spot on and it's not nimbyism either as some of these green belt proposals (the Duchy's particularly) are simply profiteering schemes that will rip the heart out of often already struggling neighbouring towns and villages, whilst the local infrastructure can't cope with the additional traffic congestion. Why won't the government, local councils and the likes of the Duchy invest in brownfield schemes especially where they are needed?
