Went to them all , villa park , the Goodison game , terrible anti climax . The only one I couldn't get the time off for was the league cup semi at old Trafford I still haven't got my clothes dry from the game at Old Trafford. ;D Never since have I not noticed being absolutely soaked right through to the skin. The thought of going to Wembley was enough to subdue any feeling of the cold and the damp. I think we were in the only part of the ground that didn't have a roof! As you say, I didn't feel the rain - we were at Wemberleee!!

It is over 40 years ago and it does, as people have stated, hurt.
It is quite unbelievable. What younger fans most probably cannot grasp is: just how big the FA cup was in those days.
It was the only live game involving club football of the season. The game was televised on both BBC and ITV and coverage started a good 5/6 hours before kick-off.
Basically the whole nation would watch the game; football supporter or not.

I was too young to go to the games, but as a treat I was allowed to stay up and watch the Goodison highlights. I still recall going to bed in tears, the offside goal was quite unbelievable , and i believe from that day that the Establishment would never let us win if they had a say init

The story that is the emotional scar that will never properly heal . I've tried telling my 11 year old that story but never quite get to the end before ,getting some dust in my eye I think I'll take that pain to the grave ........While my lad has "If ONLY Kenwyne had scored that chance " already haunting him

I have mentioned the Arsenal semis to my Stokie daughter , but have tried to keep the pain to myself. For me the first one at Hillsborough hurts more , i was just 13 and it saddens me to this day . And how we didnt beat them in 72 at Villa Park when Wilson went off injured ? Am i right that we hit the post with the sub keeper , a certain John Radford, was on the ground ? The first year hurts also as Arsenal won the double , though we did hammer them 5 - 0 at home that season . Now that memory helps somewhat ! Arsenal , you will never be forgiven !!

Just before the Semi Final games we had stuffed Arsenal 5 nil in the league. Before Goodison replay we played first at Hillsborough and were 2 nil up at HT. I was eleven yrs old and can still remember us all singing "we want five". They equalized in injury time which sent us to the replay. I have always hated Arsenal since that day.

God this is painful thread. I thought the cathartic relief of the Bolton game got me over the hurts, but no, opened up and still raw after 2 posts, thanks!
I don't know which was more disappointing, Hillsboro or Goodison, but I really enjoyed Old Traffshit (our semi is the only possible reason it could be called Theatre of Anything). Hillboro was unbelievable robbery, trying to get back to our bus through the fun filled streets of Liverpool was a bit on the threatening side, I remember.
