which comes first, 12th man lifting the team or an entertaining team?

. . . the team will perform better with a roaring atmosphere behind them for sure. Maybe if it is a poor display of football then we could turn the Brit into a cauldron of hate directed at opposing fans/team combined with a few anthemic " oh when the reds " bursts. Nothing headline grabbing but if it intimidates QPR then great. Players will feed off it.

Winning semi,s means nothing, it is the final that counts. It all depends on the team he puts out this weekend that matters. Bolton must have had an off day, because we have not been able to reproduce that sort of result, and made the cardinal sin of letting them beat us 5-0 next time out. Now that really did P--- me off.

Everyone will walk down to the Brit with the sole intention of getting behind the team and roaring them on to victory. At 2.05pm, people will start to learn the team that has been picked and slowly but surely the enthusiasm for the game will start to dwindle. The crowd will start subdued, waiting to see what happens and when the usual shit is played out before our eyes, the atmosphere will die completely. It is so predictable and is ultimately what makes watching Stoke something of a chore these days. Almost every week is like groundhog day! Hard to argue with that. In the end the rising strength of feeling will come out and rightly so. Perhaps, the sooner the better...

After all the funding and backing Peter Coates has given the manager are we still reliant on tis 12th man bollocks!! I really thought we were moving on but then again bar the three months prior to the end of the 2010-2011 season it has been dirge football so we are obviously not? Goooooo Arrnnnn Stoke!! There we go that should do it

Watching stoke defending deeper and deeper while desperately trying to stay in the game is hardly inspiring stuff is it?

Watching stoke defending deeper and deeper while desperately trying to stay in the game is hardly inspiring stuff is it? A deafening chorus of booing with every touch of the ball that a QPR player has?

Much of our strength these past 4 seasons has come from a togetherness of purpose. The team has largely been united in it's efforts and the crowd have very much supported the club's aims because survival has been the name of the game. I think Pulis is right to point out that we will always need to maintain that focus to be successful because we are, and always will be, a small fish in a big pond. We have NOT been crap so far this season but have put a few poor performances in. There is far too much doom and gloom on display at the moment and the OP is right, we really need to get back to giving the team our full vocal support. It's a very big game on Saturday. Well said.

I wonder what the atmosphere was like at Parkhead when they were losing 2-0 to Kilmarnock?

Has it really come to this? Are we really now the very lowest of sing when we're winning merchants. Very sad. That is a bollocks statement... most of the comments have stemmed from us playing boring negative dross which we have been, Sunderland had promise for the first 5 minutes and then as the boredom and yawning sunk in everyone sank down in the knowledge we had peen served up a pile of negative clueless crap again for the bargain price of £20 It's hard to get behind something that doesn't give ANYTHING back.. which is like watching Stoke at the moment.

An atmosphere like celtics tonight would help. Credit to those fans, 100% passion. i've been to parkhead 6 times now for league games i can tell you that the atmosphere is so bad, so completely non-existant, that i'd compare it to anfield like liverpool, they get 'up for it' once in a blue moon for the odd european game of local derby as for stoke, i used to be someone who sings through the whole game, but it is hard to stay in good voice if nothing at all is happening on the pitch. fans should always be in good voice, but the action on the pitch also contributes to a good atmosphere. there is very rarely any action to speak of at a stoke game these days. to be honest it is total shit

'WHATEVER THE TEAM ARE PLAYING LIKE'
Aka the best we have played since we got promoted. With better quality players than we've had since the 70's.
I think i'll manage. Not that the wrist slashers will though!
Begovic Cameron huth shawcross wilko
N'zonzi. Whelan.
Walters. Adam. Ethers.
Crouch
Only 1 weak link in that team for me. And it's not Walters. If we turn up and support them, we'll easily win.

The crowd needs the boost of some positive changes and of course an early goal to give them some oomph.

If you think Pulis is a rubbish manager - which many on here apparently do - then it's obvious that the team needs your support.
With such a poor manager and a team full of Championship plodders... how else can we win but with the twelfth man roaring them on to victory?
With such boring Premiership football we will have no choice but to make our own entertainment in the stands.
Make some noise tomorrow... you know it makes sense.

QPR game is massive now for us, are we as Stoke fans going get off our fucking arse and shout and cheer our boys to victory or are we going sit there like muppets and moan our bollocks off at every misplaced pass which OUR lads make.
We are out of sorts at the mo but is this our team we are talking about, if so lets fuckin support them, because most what i here on this site at the mo, some of you are looking forward to us failing so you can have a round of I told u so.
We are Stoke get the fuck behind the lads later on safenoon.

this isn't a new thing though. If people were honest, boredom set in a long time ago. Yes, the newness of the Premier League has gone too, but for some time now there has been little to get worked up about at Stoke.
The pre-match PA and muzak kills any attempt at getting anything going until 2.59pm, and I'm heartily fed up of being asked to "Make some noise" above the Foo Fighters and the like whilst the faux love-in of shaking hands goes on.
Sterility is a catchable disease. It just took us longer than most to get a dose.

"The Britannia somehow manages to feel part of a natural force rather than vulnerable to one. That makes no sense, but nor does having an elegant statute of Stanley Matthews outside when Jon Walters is galumphing down the wings inside. And yet it works. For a little while longer at least." Very apt.

It's a symbiotic relationship. Fans and team need to inspire each other. If you've got 10 men behind the ball at home to West Brom and nobody making things happen then it's hard to feel inspired in the stands.
