What a player. Excellent again today, what a start to the season. Best centre back in the prem right now? .
If he doesn't get picked for the next England squad I will never support England again.

Well said OP!
Him and Shawcross sure must be one of the best centrehalf-couples in the league at the moment? Both of them were outstanding today!

Ryan Shawcross won 5 tackles & 8 ground duals v Chelsea. No player for either side won more tackles or ground duals than him. Off Twitter

TBH I have always been slightly sceptical about Ryan's England potential but I must admit that he has been immense this season. At the end of the day, he neutralises some of the world's best strikers as part of his bread and butter work - and that's what England need.
He is surely better than Lescott and Jagielka?

He seems to be back to how he was before the Ramsey incident. Another great performance today.

Isn't it San Marino and Lapland the next two games or something. Wock solid Woy will go for John Terry and Phil Thompson.

Our 2 centre halves are absolutely fantastic and both were superb again today.
I would take our 2 over their 2 every single day of the week!

That was one of the first thoughts when he slide in and took the ball away with him, stopping Chelsea in their tracks.... "If he isn't picked for England after this then there is definately something wrong!! Immense again... So calm, reserved, and professional! I would have him playing for Germany and that is saying something...

The thing is that we can build him up all we like, we see him week in week out. When was the last time Woy came to the Brit? With WBA. When did Capello come to the Brit? Did he ever? He may have sent his sidekick, I can't remember. Ryan is well worth a call up, lets see in the next few weeks. Don't hold your breath.

Best player on the pitch by a mile today and comfortably our best performer so far this season. He still wont get an England call-up though!

His turn of pace always surprises me. For a big lad he can move quick. Compare that with Jagielka and Lescott who had rings run around them in the last England game.

Ryan Shawcross is, without doubt, one of the best defenders our club has ever had.
And he's getting better with every passing game.

That is some accolade DaveF and I agree with you. He is definitely the best in my lifetime.
His partnership with Huth is one of the best in the league. Even a Swansea fan on 606 mentioned them when trying to explain what his own side needed.
I wouldn't swap our two centre halves, in tandem, for any other in the league I don't think.
