Which is the better defender - Wilco or Glenn Johnson?
Obviously not talking about going forwards here.

If you put Wilco and Johnson together, we'd definitely get the (Dr) Feelgood factor!

johnson is obviously better than wilkinson. you wouldn't be asking this if johnson played for stoke.

Your seriously not suggesting Wilko for England?

Yes, this is definitely the burning issue on everyones minds. I think this thread could possibly win an award.

johnson is obviously better than wilkinson. you wouldn't be asking this if johnson played for stoke. No Johnson is not obviously better then Wilko. Going forwards - yes, much, much better than Wilko. Defensively? That was my question. Your seriously not suggesting Wilko for England? Where did I suggest that. My suggestion (if any) was that Johnson is hopeless at defending. Yes, this is definitely the burning issue on everyones minds. I think this thread could possibly win an award. Ok no more threads about anything other than what rubyonrails thinks is the 'burning issue'. FFS.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing when Andy Townsend was putting Johnson forward as a possibly man of the match candidate last night, I know Townsend is clueless but he would have to be mentally ill to believe that. I lost count of how many times Johnson pushed too far forward and didn't get back. He has absolutely no positional sense, a defenders primary task is to defend and he was playing more advanced than Jermaine Defoe at times last night. He should be nowhere near the England squad.

The lad on the wing for them who scored the goal had a great game and burned past Johnson at will. I can't imagine he would find it so easy against Wilko, not the second time he tried it, anyway.

they are both a fecking liability when it comes to defending.
wilco with his stupid, rash, unnecessary lunges
glen because he attacks alot and leaves his position in defence open.
however i do believe that glen does offer something to your team when attacking and needs someone to drop in and cover him. his pace does him good when defending against quick wingers
wilco is useless going forward and a liability with some of his decisions when defending because of his lack of pace, so i'd go for glen as the better defender overall because his pace is an asset in modern day football

Regards to Johnson, I don't believe his attacking ability overides his shocking defending.

Regards to Johnson, I don't believe his attacking ability overides his shocking defending. i agree to a point, but in a comparison between him and wilco. glen has more to offer both in defending and attacking people love wilco because he is no-nonsense, but neither is huth. however huth is no-nonsense but a great talent and not a liability. wilco is no-nonsense and a massive liability. especially in todays game this i why i hope we start seeing 3 at the back, either 3-5-2,or 3-4-3
