I listen to quite a bit of strange prog rock and alternative metal.
These fellas are quite strange (anyone who likes the Melvins should probably enjoy it). They've done soundtracks to horror films, and they've released an album which features one track that is 90 minutes long ;D
And this band is a bit weird too. They're Icelandic and the singer, Einar Örn Benediktsson, is an Icelandic politician. The band also feature his 10 year old son who plays the trumpet, and a turntablist. Pretty mental, really.

Mike Patton is involved in some good shit. This is fairly normal by his standards but I feel I have to post it because I love the title:
Most of the music I like is weird anyway. That's why I like it. I'll admit to struggling with this for a while:

The fact that people listen to it is weird. solid dubstep is shit, but most songs at moment have bit in somewhere thats why i dont listen to 'at the moment' music i reckon maybe frank Sinatra, which is strange for someone of my age. also listen to 80's music. hall and oates, lionel richie and all that. haha

I used to listen to quite a bit of that glitchy electronic music like Aphex Twin, kid606*, Venetian Snares etc when I was at uni and I came across this album on planet mu by a guy called Pthalocyanine. It's of a similar vein, quite a lot of bits of gabbaesque beats coming in and out in the space of 10 seconds with loads of strange noises coming in and out, resulting in what can only be described as a cacophony. It made Aphex's Druqs album sound like a Toploader record by comparison, but I really enjoyed the chaos of it all as it made me think about biological molecules reacting with each other and about the randomness of the beginnings of simple life forming and gave me lots of vivid visual imaginations about neurons firing. I was studying science at the time and smoking quite a lot of drugs, but I'm fairly sure quite a few of those ideas are in there and that it wasn't just a fucking racket. At least I hope so.
Robert Wyatt definitely ticks the box of weird but I don't listen to him because his voice scares me.
*actually kid606 is quite weird himself

Cacophony is a beautiful word when connected with music. A bit like the cacophony of sound that crashes through 'black angel death song' by the velvet underground.

Fantomas are ace, Suspended Animation in particular. Saw them live once playing as a fantoms/melvins big band. 2 full drum kits complete with 5ft high gongs, Patton with about 6 different mics with different effects.
