Good price and it really does make you think about SCFC squad that fannied about in the pre-season and then the Capital Cup - let alone the first two games of the season - what was in their heads speaking to agents clubs sorting out where they might be playing, where their families migt have to move to. All makes you think - as I said last year - the Transfer Window should be a month earlier and end arounf the middle of July when most squads have reported back for a week. We can only judge teams after the wheeling and dealing has settled.
Makes being a footballer a bit of a lottery on moving with your job - compensated by the short term gains in the pocket

Best all round if this goes through. Hes undoubtedly got more to offer then his current form for us suggests but looks like he needs a new challenge to get him going, and with our bizarre surplus of CMs at the moment (when did that happen?) 3m would be a great price to ship one out
best of luck glen

£2.5m-3m is a decent price for him and we're now well overstocked in CM. I think he's been reasonably good for us overall though, and has proven to be a steal at 500k. It just makes sense to sell at this time and at that price.

Cameron looked better than Whelan in one appearance! Correct and Whelan has been part of the worst midfield in the Prem.!

Id take 3m anyday for Whelan! TP going to keep Whitehead for box to box defense and move him to cdm. Obviously Whelan isnt in TP plans neither is tonge, aresmendi, and diao.

Last season we had underperforming wingers, a support striker who couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo, poor fullbacks, and a midfield that many are claiming was the worst in football. Begovic, the CBs and Crouch must be really special.

Y'areet chaps - Wolves fan here.
I think the talk of £3 million came from 'The Wolves forum' twitter account; they retweeted what they believed to be SSN reporting a £3 mill bid when it was in fact just some nark dicking around.
Our manager appears interested though - I have a feeling this will happen on loan as opposed to a permanent though given Moxey's control of the purse strings!
On another note, could you field a team of 11 CM's now?
And on a final, far more saddening note, how is *sob* Kightly doing?

Realistically Whelan is the only one of the midfield with a saleable value - he is an international, whereas Deano would not be able to claim that (even if it was an international Sunday morning XI), and if he is allowed to get forward, he will probably look a better player. When Palacios has not played for 12 months, we are never going to be able to shift him, same goes for Arisamendi. £3m is a good deal for Glenn, and good luck to him - for what we paid (and the same goes for Delap), we have had value for money from him.

Whitehead better for the club than whelan? LOL headless chicken cost us 3 points on opening day and is generally piss poor How? Erm where to start, first by being as slow as treacly shit, but thats a permenant thing. In this specific incident, he turned his back on an oncoming opponent, so as to point at Wilson, to tell him to cover someone he was already covering. By the time the useless twat turned back round the opposition midfiElder had closed 5 yards on him and opened up a 5 yard gap the other side! He made 10 fucking yards on him in a couple of seconds because he turned his back on play, in the final minutes of a game, then compounded his error by "hurtling" back into the penalty area at "full speed" and unceremoniously hacking down a Reading player conceding what it turned out was an unnecessarily penalty. Whelan is twice the player whitehead is, nonetheless, at 3 million i'd snap wolves hand off, he's not worth that much.

Amazing how people think Cameron is the dogs bollocks based on his debut. He did nothing different for me than what our other midfielders do. And he didn't set the world alight against Swindon either. It's way too early to make judgements yet I think.

£3m does seem like a lot, i hope it is true hes not good enough and he shouldnt get in the team now. He has been a huge part of what we have achieved but i think its time to move on and good luck to him.

We paid 500k for Glen so how anyone can moan about him beggars belief. Spot on mate £500k paid out, £3m return for championship player at best. Must be one of TPs best bit of profit making if it's happens.

In the Pulis system Whelan is overvalued at £3million, outside of our system he is definitely worth it. I think that with a new club he will have team members who he can pass to and know he can always get it back instead of a THWACK up the pitch. Vastly underrated at this club and I think it's right for us both that a deal is done.

Considering we only paid £500k for the lad and from the service he has given I would be happy letting him move on to new pastures on a free.
Any money we get for him is a bonus, he does seem to be one of Pulis' favourites so not too sure if he will be going anywhere myself.

If he goes, I wish him good luck. If not, then because he has usually been in the team when we play well, I won't be sorry if he doesn't go.

As for Whelan, good business if correct. I wish him well - will never forget his equaliser at Villa in our first season and his winner at Spuds. Great mentals

Steady on, fella. Deano was the best CM at this club last season. Nah mate, our best CM last season was 'can't pass, can't tackle, can't score Whelan'. This DW or GW discussion illustrates our CM crisis, doesn't it? ;D 3 mill for Whelan...fingers crossed for the sake of progress!
