Better than Rory or Shotton as wing cover! This, comfortably At the age of 34, with no pre-season? My worry is that Etherington looks finished and we need a replacement. Some younger legs with the same ability that he had a couple of years ago. Kewell won't be that, he'll be another old head on the left who's past his best.

If Coleman's there, TP should say that he'll let him talk to Ryan if he plays in goal while we practice set pieces. That's Chris Coleman in goal, with the youth team defending and Huth, Shawcross, Crouch, Jones, Walters, Huddlestone and Cameron all attacking.
Then Ryan can tell him to get stuffed.

At the age of 34, with no pre-season? If the role is to come into a wide position with 7 minutes left then his age and lack of pre season isn't much of an issue. The width he'll offer and ball retention is leagues ahead of Rory or Shotton

Why are we suddenly looking at players who have no pre-season behind them and have not played Premier League football for 12 months. Huddlestone, Kewell, Owen to name but three.
Jesus fking Christ, we've had Palacios training with us for nearly 12 months and he still isn't fit enough for our manager.

Shawcross apologised for his part in the accident years ago so his conscience is clear. It's Ramsey who still has a problem with it obviously. But even then your comment still doesn't make sense, you don't want Ramsey to accept the apology or to move on? Eh? I replied to the original post from skiptanbroonacari!

may just be asking to train with us to keep fit while he looks for somewhere.he hasn't had a club for a month or two has he so may just want some fitness.isn't he based in Cheshire when he's in the UK?
hopefully nothing more to it than that especially considering how quick he seems to have come and gone from the ground (either that or just pimping himself out to clubs like Owen but without the glossy magazine)

What's Vladimir Smicer doing these days? If we're going to do a timewarp to 2003, we may as well do it fucking properly

Jesus fking Christ, we've had Palacios training with us for nearly 12 months and he still isn't fit enough for our manager. We are looking at them because they are cheap or free agents. Coates has said we do not have the finances in this window to spend big. I think overall we have done well with hardly any outlay. Ness free, Cameron cheap, Popov season loan (if goes through), Kightly cheap, Huddlestone and kewell good cheap additions. Huddlestone will be regular and kewell will be cover.

Backward step, if true.
Big names are no good if their legs have gone and their best years are behind them.
We should be blooding players for the future, not buying old men ( in footballing terms ) on excessive salaries, who are evidently happy to pick up a wage and play ten mins at the end of a game!
Almost as bad as the Owen rumours for me this.

Nobody has said it on here which is why its probably got more truth in it that we'll give him some stupid one year contract like the one we seem to be wanting to offer to everybody this summer. 34 to Tony Pulis and Stoke City is the similar age bracket to that of Delap, Diao, Sorensen and co so don't let age fool any potential contract offer if he can run around the pitch 10 times this morning.

Maybe there's going to be some big Shawcross / Ramsey love in before the game Sunday - I really hope not though So, if the two central figures in the leg-break saga want to put things behind them and move on that's not good enough f or you? , dought it will be good enough for the asenal Fans though !

Staffsknot.
The point being. We clearly have enough 'dead wood', some on bloody good money, whether on loan or signed they all earn a comparitive fortune.
We need an injection of lads with something to prove, not 'hasbins'.

Harry Kewell, they said he rocked up begging for a run basicly and was turned away after 5 minutes of talking to their manager.
de.twitter.com/DanielGarb I am as big a Harry Kewell fan as anyone. And respect him hugely. But that's the story, he turned up unannounced.

Ryan should insist on being captain if Wales want him enough. After all he is now a very experienced Prem captain.

Not a bad punt on Kewells part. He knows his market and saw that we take in plenty of elderly waifs and strays so thought he'd chance his hand.
