I don't know why anyone is shocked at this, the moment we signed Kightly he was on his way. Shotton will cover Kightly and Ness will cover Etheringon. I havent seen Ness yet, so will have to see if could adjust to a wing role, depsite the reports indciating thats not his position. However if Shottons anywehere near the pitch in our 5th season in the premiership, fuck me I'm going to have to hit the drink harder this season to numb the experience

Well i hope hes at training today thats all ill say on this from now. He'll either be in or treatment on his injury or have the day off because of his injury. Just going off the rumour pal saying he could be on his way down for a medical today and to discuss terms.

Pulis prefer playing Shotton or Delap. He hate Pennant cos Jermaine can keep the ball.

The unfortunate consequence of being ace at footy but also a bit of a tosser. You've just described most footballers there foxy. Forunately for most their manager isn't a grudge holding mardarse. H

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has confirmed he has held further talks with Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay regarding a deal for Victor Moses. Whelan has confirmed Moses wants to join Chelsea and is waiting to see if his valuation, now reported to be £8.5million, will be met.

Let hope, if it is true , a goal scoing winger is lined up. we do know, the management have said , players out, before hopefully better quality players in.

Terrible news all around if this turns out to be true. Kightly is a cracking player who is probably more consistent than JP but not as flash. Also anyone leaving that puts Shotton closer to the 1st team is horrendous news....he is shite

I realise that but you're saying he best be in training. He won't be training regardless of any interest from Wigan as he's injured so don't read too much into him possibly not being at our training ground today

Pennant has been a goner for ages. Why is anyone surprised.
If Ricardo Fuller can't work himself out of the bad books of TP, Pennant has no chance.
It was always a matter of "when" rather than "if" Pennant leaves.
I like Pennant as a player but it is quite clear that he is a complete and utter arse off the pitch. I can't make my mind up whether it is good that he is going or not to be fair.
I had always enjoyed the fact that our players seemed like decent, normal blokes and Pennant was probably the first player we signed that was your typical arsehole footballer.
As a footballer I would be sad to see him leave but as a bloke, particularly after enjoying everything about the Olympics this past week or so, perhaps it is good riddance.
Something of a quandry really. We can't bemoan football in the context of how good the olympics have been then complain when our club rids itself of something that many people actually despise about modern day football.

How much does everyone reckon we will get for him, if he does go? Can't see it being much. We didn't pay much because we had to pay him a big salary and Zaragoza were keen to get his whopping wages off the books. And Wigan aren't big payers - so to encourage him to go, we'll have to let him go cheapish. Maybe £1m-£1.5m?

Johnno, I agree with all of that but if it puts Ryan Shotton closer to the 1st team then that is awful news, I bet he would not get in many premiership squads never mind getting 1st team action.....awful state of affairs.

Bang on the money there. However would you be in agreement that we still need two more wingers along with Ethers and Kites, given how we set up? Getting rid of Pennant, totally understandable, but im concerned that we wont get another two in for sure and somewhere along the line Shotton will line up on the wing, or Walters, or Rory.

Pennent last year let us down and we owe him nothing, He is a great player but no good to us if always disciplined for miss behaving, noone is bigger than the club and rules have to be followed. If anyone really believes Pulis wants rid of Pennent due to footballing reasons then they are completely stupid. Pulis proved Pennent when behaving is probably one of the first on team sheet. we need 3 wingers though

if this transfer is based upon a clash of personalities, I do wish footballers* were more like Olympic athletes i.e. not a bunch of juvenile egotists. *(and footballer managers).

Absolutely, I would be in agreement that if Pennant leaves and Kightly arrives, we still need at least one other winger, quite possibly 2.
We need 3 players for wide positions. A specialist right winger, specialist left winger and 1 who can play either side.
As a player I like Pennant. He is certainly better than Etherington in my opinion.
Like I say, a quandry really due to him being a good player but clearly an absolute c**t.
