I'm shocked people want to drop whitehead, he was one of our best players last year We need midfielders whose talents lie on the ball as well as off it. What you mean like Delap?

With players we have now, be honest we dont have a bad squad and should be no where near bottom 3 with it. Can see us having a good season Bego Cameron Huth Shawcross Wilson Ethers/Ness Palacios Whitehead/Ness Pennant Crouch Walters/Jerome I dont know where Ness plays so thats why i put him in 2 places ;D Bego Cameron Huth Shawcross Wilson Ethers Ness Palacios Pennant Crouch Jerome have you actually seen Ness play? He's not going be a starter pal

What you mean like Delap? Obviously not. so you will agree with me he's not good enough? Deano was far better performer yet was sacrificed more

so you will agree with me he's not good enough? Deano was far better performer yet was sacrificed more I don't think it's so much that he's not good enough as that he's not up to a full season anymore. We've always needed midfielders who can actually do something on the ball and TP has struggled to find a place in his side for any.

Would N'Zonzi add anything in that department?
I'm not so sure.

The team v reading would be:-
Bego Cameron ryan huth Wilson Walters whitehead whelan ness ethers
Crouch!
1-0 loss followed by.... We simply don't have the resources to compete with reading, we look at there bench and it's littered with quality, we're just happy be in the prem and in Peter Coates we have the best chairman in the land, and his family are amazing too, and as for there dog, he's a lovely lad.

Would N'Zonzi add anything in that department? I'm not so sure. Do you not think he'd keep the ball better FM? From what I've seen of him he'd do the disciplined, ball winning, unflashy easy-ball stuff much better than most of our midfielders and could add that composure to allow WP to shine.

;D....Clyde You forgot Reading were a Premier League club 5 years ago They've been out the wilderness mate but they were just unlucky, they ooze premiership quality and I wouldn't be suprised if they did what Newcastle did ;D

Hi all, new poster here, but I've been a browser for a few years. My starting 11 would be the following:
(Ive spent a bit of time farting about with images... looks more encouraging that way!)
For 'Pulisball' it would obviously have to be a 4-4-2 ...
However, given Palacios' transformation and the fact that virtually anybody who watches us play acknowledges that to move forward we need a change of playing style, I'd like to see 3-5-2. We have a fantasic back 2 and are also in a great position of having Upson or Cameron to play as part of our defensive line-up. This would allow Upson more game time, and allow Cameron to be integrated in his most played position without compromising the Huth/Shawcross partnership. With Wilson a 'midfielder-cum-fullback', IMO he should be prime for a wing-back position, and knowing he still has a solid defensive 3 behind him, we could afford for him to push on a bit more, get overlapping his winger and support the midfield in being a bit more creative. The same argument goes for Olsson (who I hope we will sign...) The biggest problem area then becomes the middle of the park, with Palacios holding the fort in the middle on his own... But if his pre-season is anything to go by, I hope we will be seeing a lot more of the Palacios we were all hoping for last season. If he is struggling on his own in the middle, we could simply revert to 4-4-2 with relative ease and 1 substitution... We could also adapt to a 3-4-3 if we were feeling really brave, with Olsson taking position on the wing, and Kightly moving up to a forward 3!?! (OK maybe thats TOO far... but still)
I really hope we get a new forward in, I think this will be key next season. I personally don't think we'll be seeing Defoe at the Brit (not unless he's playing away!) which is a real shame as I always admired the Crouch/Defoe partnership.
All in all I can't wait for the season to start, I hope we see some change, but if not, I don't think it's the be all and end all.

Jamie Ness will not be a first team player - How do I know this you ask? He is rated 68 overall on Fifa 12.

I wasn't, honest But to be fair it's worth pointing out that Shotton is 64 and gets a regular spot whilst the likes of Jones is what, 70-something (?) and is benched week-in week-out..
