Sadly at the beginning of this month my grandma, Rosemary Bough aka Red and White Rosemary, died at the age of 77. She was known to many Stokies from the 1970s TV programme "Shouts for City." I know that she was very proud that her family were chosen to be part of this programme. My Mum is her eldest daughter on the programme and being born into the family meant me and my sister were taken to matches from a young age with our parents and grandparents and have been there for all the highs and lows since the late 1980s thanks to their influence.
My grandma was as dedicated a Stoke fan as you could possibly meet. She rarely missed a home match in more than 60 years and Stoke City were her great passion. She would not hear a word said against the team, one great example was when we played Stockport away in the play offs in 1992 - my grandma went to a policeman at the front of the away end and demanded that he go and arrest the referee for sending off Carl Beeston! Don't think the policeman quite knew how to react to this!! My grandma told us so many happy tales of following Stoke in the 1970s but I knew she was always very sad that we missed out in the 2 FA Cup semi finals, so it was amazing last year that she finally got the chance to get to the final. It was not easy for her as she was not too well in the last years of her life but she made it there and we were so glad that she could be there.
When my season ticket arrived this morning it was bitter sweet as my grandma won't be sitting next to me anyore on the Boothen End. She was a lovely lady and a true Stokie and we'll all miss her so much.

Stokiemel , I watched " Shouts for City " only yesterday and loved how your grandma talked about Stoke . Your mum saying she prefered football to pop stars was a great commet too.

A lovely tribute. Can echo your sentiment - when the season tickets hit the doormat this time it will be sad knowing that it will be just mine and my lad's this year.

I am related to her by marriage, but since my father's side of the family had always supported Stoke, there was no other choice. It was said at Rosemary's funeral that she was a real lady apart from when she was at the Britannia for a home match, particularly when the opposition was Arsenal! For her, and for me, the semi-finals early in the 1970s linger long in the memory, particularly the farce at Goodison involving the Arsenal "offside" goal.
RIP Rosemary.

Sad news.
I saw that programme a couple of years ago after somebody posting here linked to a website that was hosting it.
It was great viewing. A real piece of social history. You could tell the passion that your grandma and the rest of your family have for this club.
Best wishes to you and yours.

I must have seen her, must have known her, but can't place her. makes me realize how many of us golden oldies are still about, though getting less as time wears us out.To all Stokies out there, no matter what age. Enjoy your time as a Stokie, it can be the best times of your life. Take what comes, and keep the faith. We are a special group of people, and I have been privileged to know so many. No doubt fans of other clubs feel the same, but we are all, in our own way, unique. We'll be with you Grandma, but until then, no doubt you'll be with us. Keep smiling for Grandma, Stokiemel.

Like me lancer. It is so frustrating to realise that you may know a true Stokie but just can't place them when they pass on. Maybe stokiemel will furnish us with a photo of his passionate grandma?
R.I.P. Rosemary and keep remembering her with love, mel and family.

Thanks for all the nice replies. Just to clear up though I am female not male! Me and my sister have carried on the tradition of females supporting Stoke in our family!
We had a great photo taken by the Sentinel a few years ago when Shouts for City was released on DVD, so if I can figure out how I will try to post it on here! Also all the family were invited to watch a screening at Staffs Uni - I'd only ever seen Shouts For City on ancient cinefilm converted to video which didn't really work, so it was nice to watch it with my mum and grandparents and it meant a lot to them.

What a sad but at the same time charming and touching story (Miss!) Mel.
I never saw "Shouts for City" great if you can somehow post a clip as a small tribute, I'd definitely like to see it.
