Just seen that the BBC has 24 dedicated HD channels up and running for the Olympics , is this overkill ? Or do you think it's about right ? ???

BBC is host broadcaster and have to provide live feeds from each sport ,as it happens to the rest of the world. They are just making it available to the rest of us that have sat or cable.

It's right that it should be celebrated. When will it happen again?

It's right that it should be celebrated. When will it happen again? in 4 years Joe...the tracks they run on will look exactly the same, the pools they swim in will look exactly the same, the velodromes will look the same, the gyms will look the same etc. in terms of TV viewing the ONLY difference will be that the backdrop outside the arenas in their little montages they do may differ slightly but that is all. the only other difference is the major embarassment we face by cocking the whole thing up (and so far the logistics have been a massive shambles) and the whole world seeing it, whereas in previous Olympics other countries have been a tad more organised

Lets be honest, a shed load of money is going to be spent in London over the next six weeks and if you can't tap into that then get yourself a holiday booked. Best thing to happen to this country EVER.

Is it possible to avoid any Olympic broadcasts? If so I will be amongst the group of viewers trying my best to avoid watching any Olympic events whatsoever. That includes news broadcasts.

Overkill. Its fucking wank and I cant wait for it to be over. Its cheesy and I couldn't give a fuck about any of it ;D ;D ;D I only asked ! ;D I find it hard to get behind team 'GB' when there are non British members of the team such as the American tiffany porter who will 'represent' team 'GB' in the 100 meter hurdles event. It shouldn't be called team 'GB' if there are foreign people in the 'team'. Its GB in name and name only. And another thing that I find peculiar is the fake patriotism surrounding the Olympics. Year in year out we are told that we can not wave the cross of St George or the Union Jack because it might 'offend' ethnic minorities and the far left and any showing of national pride is frowned upon and those who display such pride are called racists and Nazis and whatever else the tree huggers decide to spout but because there is/was profit to be made from the world cup, the jubilee and the Olympics (not that you or I will see any of it) , 2012 was the year the media and the PC brigade 'allowed' the masses to wave our flags without putting us on a guilt trip. But mark my words, once the Olympics are over the flags will come back down and anyone who keeps one flying from a flag pole or from a car will be called a 'racist hooligan'...Being British/English is for life, not just for when the 'system' says its ok... Fuck em all , my flag will fly as and when I want it to fly, not when the government/media/left/establishment give me permission...there permission isn't needed ....Just saying ;D

It has been a logistical nightmare and shambolic build up but it always is. Sydney was surrounded by the same problems but now everyone remembers it as a special time in their lives.

I couldn't give a shite about the Olympics being in the UK, but I always watch the Olympics so I'm looking forward to it!
I can watch pretty much any sport as long as there is a Brit in it. Except for fucking dressage.
