Do gooders are the root of all the problems in the world. Doing good is an evil thing. I remember seeing an elderly woman fall over and drop a bag of shopping. Two young lads went over to see if she was OK and heloped her up and gathered her shopping which had fallen all over the footbath. I could have smacked the daft cunts. It's good deeds like that that are turning everything evil. What they should have done is either steal her shoppiong or laugh at her. Don't do good.

Oh for the days when we could abuse wogs in the street and nobody would say a thing. Eh, SS? Were they better days than today when "wogs" can abuse us in our streets and nobody says a thing. FFS this country is absolutely knackered most can all see the problems but all to repressed and frightened to say what they are and sort them out. There is a saying about calling a spade a spade where has freedom of speech gone to ? as for the thread well if a dog is born in a stable is he therefore entitled to be called a horse.

www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/jun/12/euro-2012-england-fan-muslim-crusadesManchester United fan/Guardian writer massively misses the point and lays into England fans who dress up as St. George. He claims that they're dressed up ''as Knights Templar hordes'' ...''to brandish a sword and recall the brutal and bloody invasion of Muslim lands is portrayed as harmless banter'' Symptomatic of the hand wringing sensitivity from the 'nu football fan'? Should we now avoid making two fingered gestures as they may upset Frenchmen who might've had ancestors on the field at Agincourt? Or does he have a valid point? I ain't read the article after the 1st para, for god's sake will we be dictated to on what we wear to football now? Most muslims prob don't wanna be England fans anyway. That was the weak point in his article. Should we now complain about fans from Sweden or Denmark dressing up as vikings...they did terrorise most of the northern hemisphere for many years. Do the Italian fans protest that some French fans dress up as Asterix and his fat mate (oops, careful now plastic, ya musn't upset the overweight!)? Will we see in later tournaments that Spanish fans dressed as bullfighters will not be allowed entry after protests from the animal rights peeps? He misses the point that it IS "harmless banter", a harmless and hopefully humorous celebration of one's own culture. The long time gap.....many centuries in the case of the crusades..... effectively cancels out any residual grievance except for those who deliberately go looking for it! Were the crusades to have taken place in recent,or even living, memory then he might have a point, but the last crusade faltered over half a millenium ago and ultimately the Christians failed.

As per usual,
thread goes completely off topic and Admin sit back idly with their thumbs up their arses doing fuck all about it.
Only a complete fuck nugget would think that you can't be both so this thread should have been binned after the OP.
What a joke.

And who is this police officer, PC Dogooder that everyone keeps referring to? I don't want my local constabulary doing good, they should be stopping and searching black youths for no apparent reason and doing their best to make sure the force stays institutionally racist

Can you be an English Pakistani? I don't think so, but then if I think that does that make me a racist? H Of course you can, just like you can be an Italian American or a Portuguese Brazilian. Is it actually ok to call yourself English at all !, most offical ethnicity paperwork states white british.

It's not really about how or why fans act or dress or behave in the way they do. the fact is its about freedom of choice , this debate ,this forum would not be allowed in most Muslim countries . Should we change our way of life to accommodate the wishes of a vocal minority What choices do the people of Syria enjoy? If I want to dress as a crusader, drink lots of alcohol ,while munching a sausage roll I will , Im not doing it to offend anyone .the fact is Muslims would love to have sharia law in this country I loath there arrogance

Considering how many muslims in this country actually like football , let alone follow the national team abroad, then I think we all guilty of an over reaction. Strangely enough , there has always been a reluctance to embrace the national game especially by the Pakistanis & Indians for the last 50 or 60 years. I repeat 50 or 60 years ....that's 2 or 3 generations.
I certainly don't feel the need to go out on a limb to encourage the participation of football within their communities , as it is plainly obvious that if they are not prepared to integrate themselves into normal every day life and its values , then the idea that football is going to have any more success is quite farcical.
If this thread proves one thing , its that we are all banging our heads against a wall to prove a political point.
I'm not remotely interested . I'm not interested in them , their religion ,their clothes , their culture , their food or arranged marriages.
Like wise , they feel the same.

Bit of a daft article really. The crusader/St George thing seems to be designed to generate page views and ad revenue and detracts from a more interesting discussion about whether the culture of supporting the England national team is compatible with different ideas of 'Englishness'.
It's not that many years ago that thousands of England fans could be heard singing "I'd rather be a Paki than a Turk" or thousands of Stoke City fans: "You're just a town full of Pakis". Thankfully we seem to have rapidly moved beyond that but I can't say I'm surprised that an English Muslim might still question whether they can support England.

No! Never!! Swampy, I just can't believe a "newspaper" of national repute ... or the Guardian ... would stoop to such levels. Writing a non-story to get attention and revenue? No. Nay. Never.
