Wigan is the sort of Premier League club that TP was born to manage. I.e) no money and constant relegation battle. We are past that now, we should be looking up not down with the financial clout we have being spunking.

Yes that was a golden age for Stoke but like this golden age supporters stiil moaned about Waddo despite all he did for the club. I feel that back then clubs and players were a lot easier to manage ( no overpaid bad lads to sort out or media pressure). with regard to managers at clubs like Wolves and Blackburn I bet there supporters wish they were still there. because you can say what you like about Puliss he has done a super job at Stoke and without him we would drop. I think that for one Brian Clough would disagree with you when talking about dealing with the likes of Billy Bremner et al. I don't believe for a second it was easier to manage a club in the 70's. And I refuse to believe that TP is only person capable of keeping us up aswell. Clough only had to deal with that bunch at Leeds for 44 day's and that was only because of his past history of resentment of the club, other than that I cant remember him having any probs with any other players at Derby or Forrest. With regard to managing clubs then and now the wage gap from the big clubs to the smaller ones is bigger now than its ever been and is growing all the timem so hanging onto your best players is harder than ever ( think how long our team in the 70s were together), also players today show very little loyalty to club or supporters. As much as Pullis baffles with his desisions at times I do believe that without him we would struggle, unless we brought in a top manager with a huge transfer budgett and wage structure to cripple the club ( think Leeds, Portsmouth, southampton, Charton ect). So lets stop moaning and give the man some credit.
