This report from a few weeks ago mentions the possibility of a game in Costa Rica as well. Doesn't sound a very Pulis-friendly pre-season, with all this travel and no altitude. You wouldn't think he'd be happy unless he got his week running them up Austrian hills. www.everardoherrera.com/index.php/futbol-internacional/90-futbol-internacional/8966-el-stoke-city-vendria-a-costa-rica-en-junio-proximo.htmlTo strengthen relations with Uruguay Coronado of the Costa Rican League, Stoke City will become the first Premier League club in England to visit the Central American country in mid-year.
According to Paulo Cesar Wanchope, the Costa Rican team manager, the British would use their visit to the US to also be in Costa Rica during their pre-season between the months of June and July.
"They will be in season in the US. and indeed wanted to come by and play some games . It would be interesting, was the report I gave the representative, who wanted to take the trip to Jose is integrated into the practices and games and why not see the possibility that they may come to Costa Rica too, "said Wanchope to www.everardoherrera.com.
Notably, the Stoke City is very interested in the Uruguay defender of Coronado, Jose Mora.Maybe Tone can get Arismendi to put in a good word for us.

Lots of friendlies seem to be getting firmed up and announced this past week..
This really good news and just in time...was considering booking a trip to Argentina this weekend ( been before but not for footie ) to pick up the last two weeks of their 2nd season in June ..it's possible to do 3 games per weekend there..obviously that goes on the back burner yet again..and this comes massively to the front.
Pending final details being released I'll be there ..

I can actually make the Columbus game, as I land in NY that day (24/7), at 12:30. Just need talk the wife to be around, as she doesn't fancy watching Stoke on our first day of the honeymoon!

I mean, TP's son plays for Orlando, correct? Yes. TP also has family that live in Orlando. Met his sis (could have been sis in law) in Macy's when she saw my Stoke top. It was before we were promoted & she checked with me first if I was pro TP ;D

Scholes should put everyone who buys a season ticket into a raffle for a holiday to america to watch the friendlies. So then those who blew their money in valencia and thun can have a chance to go ;D

Columbus is indeed a shithole.
Too bad there is no friendly against Toronto FC!
For those seriously considering it, you will get better deals flying into Cincinatti and then driving the 100 miles.

Why do we only get this info from the opponents' websites - nothing on our own? Usual story I guess.......

Kansas game just announced too - I would be amazed if the trip did not include an Orlando City friendly. They had Newcastle and Bolton last year and, with our links, surely we will be lined up this time?

I suppose they want to wait until the whole of the tour is finalised.
Or, alternatively, no one has told our IT people about the dates yet! ;D

Columbus is indeed a shithole. Too bad there is no friendly against Toronto FC! For those seriously considering it, you will get better deals flying into Cincinatti and then driving the 100 miles. Also, Cleveland is only 120 miles away and is a Continental/United Hub Airport. That might be alot cheaper.

Cincinnati is the most expensive airport in the US. I'd be surprised if you get any good deals to fly in there. There's also Indianapolis a couple of hours away who use southwest. Other alternatives that I've used are Dayton OH and, funnily enough, Columbus!

LiveStrong Sporting Park. Image courtesy PopulousExcited to host Stoke here at the BPL's lucky charm: Kansas City! The last two EPL sides we've hosted have qualified for European competition in the following season (Man U last year, Newcastle United this year). For those that aren't familiar with MLS in recent years, the league breaks two ways: teams stuck in the 1990s who think that the only way to attract fans is by signing pensioners to ridiculous contracts (see: New York, LA Beckhams) and teams that are developing good young teams and playing good football that sustainably draws in legions of fans. Kansas City is firmly in the latter category, particularly after the opening of the community pride and joy that is LiveStrong Sporting Park in 2011. There are no delusions though: MLS is a sizable cut below BPL in terms of the quality of football played. I don't care, I just love my team. SportingKC has started the season with an excellent run of form, winning their first seven games with an aggressive, possession-oriented style that has been both celebrated and panned by rival fans as being "like the MLS version of Stoke." The one player you may be familiar with is Teal Bunbury, a Canadian-born American player who was a trialist at Stoke in December 2010, scoring a goal in a reserve match against Wigan. He's fallen a bit out of favor locally in recent months as is now more of a reservist for us as well. MLS--which runs from March to November--will be in mid-season at this time. For Sporting KC this Wednesday night match will be sandwiched between a weekend match at home and a 1,500 mile road trip to New England. Like your side, Sporting will probably be a mix of reserve players and starters. Hopefully it won't be hotter than blazes this time (last year on August 1st it was 41ÂșC!) but there will be a good crowd, great seats (and standing terraces!), taps flowing, friendly people, and top notch facilities that will get your men in shape for the season. Hope you can swing a trip. Although Kansas City doesn't have a beach or a mountain range, it made Frommer's Top Destinations in the World for 2012. Either way, we'll welcome your boys to the Blue Hell.

Sadly trans atlantic flights get jacked up by 40% at the end of June every year. It will be an expensive trip for UK Stokies. Lets hope that Orlando fixture pops up as it will be the cheapest option. Columbus is indeed a shit hole Kansas is fine and try and see a baseball game while you are there. Be great to see a few of you in the USA.
