Surely, you wouldn't begrudge me a bit of drama on here when there's so little on the pitch at the moment?

Good post jarhead ........isn't it refreshing to hear a manager being positive, instead of the negative dross we are fed, which i think by some posts on here has brain washed them into thinking they are watching something they are not........before the Wigan game we had Pulis saying we have played sixteen games more than them.......no the club has but not the team.....we were playing two different teams in the Prem and Europa....he talks to Stoke fans as though they are complete idiots when he comes out with his so called stats.....i have to admit some fans are almost there still defending Pulis and the tired old tactis and negativity......

Have the previous three seasons really been ‘unenjoyable’. Sure away form as at times been horrific but the overall record is not that far behind a team at our level. Has this season been such a train wreck? I don’t think so. Europe was fantastic and we played very, very well in it. Anyone deriding the teams we played should be repeatedly kicked in the bollocks until they cough up their dinner. We were in the hardest group by far and handled ourselves with great aplomb. I think Europe has affected League form to a certain extent and eventuated an even greater ‘safety first’ approach from the manager as has trying to get the excellent Crouch in to the ‘system’. There’s been some dogs of games this year and a handful of truly memorable occasions, not bad for a season as a whole and I’m prepared to cut the manager a lot of slack on that basis. I'm prepared to cut TP plenty of slack after what he's achieved, but if we're still here in two seasons' time (which will be six seasons in the Premier League - the same as Curbishley managed after his second promotion) talking about "the cage" and "withdrawn strikers" and we're still struggling to score goals and spending £20M+ each summer, then I reckon there will be some questions that need to be answered.

Your right there. The football has been horrendous and totally boring! How many games have we heard in summing them up that we have heard the words,no quality, dire, dull, mind numbing dross,no creativity. Then we have the players STILL out of position. 100m spent Jesus Christ its gone up by £10m since yesterday, who have we signed? The actual figure is 93.8 million we have spent/wasted,so the best part of 100 million and we still cant pass a ball or create from open play but lets ignore those issues eh because its not the point is it!!!!!!??????????ffs

And we cant pass a ball.
Create chances with open play.
No wing cover.
No left-back.
No serious invention from central midfield.

go on then tell us???
whatever you think they are they wont knock off 20+ million and certainly does hide our serous lack of cover and quality plus we have no re-sale value to get anything back on many players here now.

These are the official site prices...
We don't know how much of the 'could rise to' bits and pieces have been paid - but maybe most of them apart from Arismendi, Crouch and Kitson?
Summer 08 Kitson Undisc (Reading local paper said initial 4.0) >5.5 Oli 3.0 Higgy 2.5 Ab Faye 2.25 Sonko 2.0 >2.25 Tonge 2.0 Soares 1.5> 2.0 Davies 1.5 Am Faye Undisc. (Mail say 1.0) Soro 0 19.25> 22.0
Winter 09 Ethers 2.0 Beattie 2.5>3.5 4.5> 5.5
Summer 09 Arismendi 2.9>4.8 Whitehead 3> 5 Collins 2.75 > 3.5 Tuncay 5 Huth 5> 6 18.65> 25.3
Winter 10 Begovic 3.5 3.5
Summer 10 Jones 8 Walters 2.75 > 3.25 Gudjohnsen Undisc. Wilson 2.0 (+Kitson/Lawrence) 12.25> 12.75+Lawrence/Kitson and Gudj fee
Winter 11 Pennant 1.7 > 2.8 1.7 > 2.8
SUMMER 12 Woodgate 0 Upson 0 Jerome 4 Crouch 10>12 Palacios Undisc. (Sentinel consistently say 6) 20.0 > 22.0
2008 £19.75m > 22.0 2009 £23.15m > 30.75 2010 £16.25m > 16.75 (plus Kitson/Lawrence) and undisc Gudj fee 2011 £1.7m > 2.8 2012 £20.0 > 22.0 TOTAL £80.85m > £94.3m (plus undisc. Gudjohnsen fee and Kitson and Lawrence valuations in Wilson deal)
So, overall, maybe looking at mid 80s gross, with primarily the Olofinjana and Tuncay cash to be knocked off

i agree!!! TP > no respect for the fans. boring football. stubborn beyond believe (like many of our fans). Starting to spend way to much money. shocking tactics. love TP for what he as done but now is the time to get rid. trouble with TP is that he knows he will NEVER get sacked. you talk about players acting to big for the club, well we have got a manager who is just that!. PC is 80% the reason we are where we are!. nothing to do with TP. if Brendon Rogers was manager of stoke with PC backing??? who knows TP - no respect for the fans??? Or the other way round maybe? He was booed when he arrived and has continued to have stick despite success that I, for one never dreamed possible 5 years ago. Not playing the way fans (presumably such as you) say he should doesn't mean he doesn't respect you it means he doesn't agree with you. And despite making decisions we all might question he has had unprecedented success. Despite Pardew's comments it's usually clean sheets that keep you up. (see west brom, Blackpool burnley) Of course we'd like to win by playing flowing football, but winning playing unglamorously trumps losing by playing flowing football any day. Careful what you wish for. Ask Charlton fans. yes TP no respect for the fans considering he has PUBLICLY come out and said that he doesn't care what fans think as he does not have to answer to them (an incorrect statement made by TP for a start let alone an incredibly bad mistake PR-wise) and you're right that winning playing unglamorously is better than losing playing tippy tappy stuff; unfortunately however we haven't seemed capable of either in large parts of this season.plus, that particular point isn't really relevant to the thread anyway is it or have i missed the masses of games that Pardew has lost playing decent football Pardew in that interview has simply shown that he sees tactics as important, has the ability to mix things up and not become predictable and actually cares about the people that he is supposedly "Serving" and who pay his wages...all of which are things that TP (and i have been and am, in general, a big supporter of his) seems to have completely missed this year. hopefully next year we will get back on track (and no-one is asking for Barcelona-esque football but to play like we have the previous 3 years would be nice instead of moving backwards!) but for many reasons although we have had a Euro adventure and good cup run again, this will go down as the most disappointing season football-wise since we came up and in terms of tactics, bizarre selections, completely ineffective use of squad rotation and inability to handle or manage in-house player disputes it will go down as a bit of an annus horribilis for TP. that isn't bashing TP or uneccesarily insulting him, just a fair appraisal to be honest but i hope they are all things he learns from as if you take away the Europa league we have had very little to be enthused about, plenty to be frustrated with and even more worryingly lots of fans (not myself admittedly as i'm a bit of a glutton for punishment) who are beginning to become apathetic about the team in general and that's something i never thought i'd hear myself sayabout SCFC. in short TP could learn a lot from what Pardew has said (regardless as to how much people want to slate him because they think he's a dick) and i genuinely hope he was listening carefully!

Add on our large signing on fees to keep the wage cap down and it'll top £100M.
Even if it is £77Million, we have a toothless attack, a team that cannot hold onto the ball, a shite midfield with 2 decent wingers that didn't cost £5M between them, a solid central defence with players out of position at full back.

We agree to disagree BUT do you agree its serious money spent and we have no left-back,no wing cover,no creation and the football dished up after such an outlay in my book is pretty scandalous!!
Why does he play square pegs in round holes (his quote) when the icelanders did not back him???
He has been backed to the f--kin hilt from coates but the same shit is still being served up.
