Massively overrated manager.
Mystifyingly linked to big jobs despite having done absolutely fuck all at Wigan.
Jewell and Bruce did better jobs there but he gets far more praise for some reason. Perhaps because of his accent and seeming like a nice bloke.

A very over rated manager who has made Wigan progressively worse since Bruce left.
Sorry.

Looks suave, is a nice bloke, has a sexy continental accent and he doesn't wear a baseball cap.....very average manager though. Pulis out...unless he gets a fake tan, loses the hat and starts showing some swag!

No chance.
Would hate to see us dominate possession, create loads of chances and fail to finish teams off.
Wigan have gone backwards under him. They were a mid-table side under Steve Bruce and now they are perennial strugglers.
They played okay today because we were absolute wank, but I've watched them a few times this season and they are a really poor side.
Admittedly he hasn't had anywhere near the same kind of resources that Tone has but that squad still cost about £40 million. That Beausejour cost 3.5 million and managed to miss two sitters in one of the most important games of the season for them. And that Boselli bloke? 5.5 million! What ever happened to him?
Most games I've seen them they don't tend to do much attacking. They pass it around in midfield for a bit and they lose possession and concede too easily.

Why were they in that position in the first place? If we hadn't gone out in our flip flops on the last day last season they'd have gone down. Signed some right dross. "Plays the game the right way" but they've scored less goals than anybody and today was their second home win of the season. How is he any better than the other managers they've had recently?

Decent manager, at least he trys to entertain. If wigan had a decent striker today with how many they created it could have been about 7-0. Considering the team they have, they create shitloads. With a decent striker and couple good defenders theyd do well IMO.

With a decent striker and couple good defenders theyd do well IMO. Yet they've scored fewer goals than anyone and have only won once all season. They can't defend for shit. Martinez has wasted a fair bit of money on some toss players. And on paper they have a fair few decent players as well. Rodallega, Moses, Diame, McCarthy, Figueroa, Maloney. Arguably there are three worse squads than theirs yet they're down there in the bottom three.

He may of signed a few duds but he has also signed
Jordi Gomez James Mcarthy Mo Diame Victor Moses (when alot of clubs were linked with him) Alcaraz Ronnie Stam Al Hasbi
With the little budget he has... agree with stokiedj - Wigan would of truely put us away today with a decent striker - wigan showed options today and have more than one plan...without the long throw and sitting back - we were terrible.

Al Habsi - flatters to decieve, makes some howlers, Only seems so good as he is always busy. Ronnie Stam - bit shit Jordi Gomez - As consistent as Whelan Also Wigans most expensive ever signing was a Huge flop.... Mauro Boselli...Remember him? ;D

IMO, pulis has made more howlers in terms of signings for martinez down the years. But best not mention that on here. For wigans budget, the fact they are still fighting in the prem with a decent chance of staying up is awesome. They also have a great scouting system, which martinez also had at swansea.

Wigan had a great scouting system in place years before Martinez rocked up. He's got as many signings wrong as right IMO. Again, the previous managers had the same restrictions and performed better.

Martinez is a dreadful manager, not even half the manager of our own. I have absolutely no idea why he keeps getting linked with top jobs.
The only thing he has going for him is that his teams somehow always manage to make us underperform, despite being utterly crap themselves. Our hopeless attacking performance yesterday was partly due to how a very, very poor Wigan side managed to close down our attacking players and expose their lack of options whenever we had the ball in their half.
All the same, Wigan are strugglers under Martinez and won't progress beyond that under him.

I wonder how Roberto Martinez would perform with the financial resources our own manager has had without having to sell his best players to fund transfers?

You have to admire his integrity- steadfastly adhering to footballing principles that are going to get you relegated. If that's good management you can keep it.Give me TP over 'nice guy Roberto' any day of the week.
