He had a poor game today but then again so did everyone else. Made two silly mistakes and trying to take longer than he actually had and i'm sure he know's this. He's been decent in the last few weeks. He's not a world beater but he's good enough for us.

Today he was truly awful! Did the same mistake twice and it finally cost us!

He had a very poor game but he is by far our best right back. Shotton is a good back up but Pulis see's him as far too attacking to play at full back for Stoke.

He's owrate on the sub's bench but nowhere near is he a top premier full back. Two full backs needed close season.

Defensively he is good enough for the Prem (although today he was shite). Maybe he played so badly because his kiddie is keeping him up all night?
On the ball he is a very mediocre Championship player.
Wilson would probably do a better job at right back IMO. Sign Figueroa for LB and put Wilson back at RB.

Surely part of a defenders job is to be able to pass to one of his team mates? Every game he puts us in trouble, yes he's probably the best we have, but that doesn't say much.
BTW, one good cross in a season doesn't make him decent.

Some of you just can't wait for days like this can you?
The guys been more than decent all season, yet like all players he has a handful of poor games every year. Because he's not seen as a Pulis favourite, you know the agenda-peddling names who'll be first to leap on him for any below-par display.
Very sad.

He was poor today but at his best he is defensively sound but has little ability going forward and rarely has a ball under control. Both full back positions need significant investment for next year and to progress Wilko can be nothing more than a squad player I'm afraid.

In a meritocracy shotton would have to start next week at right back and anybody but Walters upfront but I fear that won't be the case .

Same as above - Wilkos a good lad yadda yadda yadda - he's just not good enough.
Never a Premier League footballer same for Shotton. Wouldn't get in any of the bottom threes side so why is he in ours. TP should treat the "great support" we give them with some actual premierleague footballers.
But to single out wilko for today is unfair - the whole team were shockingly bad - as is the rule when away at Wigan.

no, not at all, my point is, as I made higher up the thread is that todays shit offering is not Wilkos fault, why the OP has singled him out to start this thread is beyond me, he has had alot more good performances than bad this season without a doubt. Fair enough I agree. As I said further up I do like him, for the effort he puts in; and to be fair a few years ago I didn't think he'd be as good as he is - but he's still not -quite- good enough Like half the squad mate!

If it was left to me (which fortunately it ain't!) Wilko, Whelan, Delap, Whitehead, Diao, Woodgate, Ric and Mama wouldn't be here next season. All great or good servants of the club, but time to move on. But I bet most if not all will still be here next season!!!

Wilkinson and Whitehead were dire today - both were outstanding last week, its down to the manager to recognise the problem and resolve it with substitutions. Palacios and Shotton should have come on for the second half, it might have changed the game for the better.

Judging by some posters you could add Ethers, Wilson, Walters, Jerome and KWJ to that list ................... So with 11 of the lads to be outed, let's start with a blank canvas for 2012/13

Pulis or someone else needs to really shake things up next season , I think the following players should be moved on as there's no place for sentiment in football at this level.
Wilkinson , poor positioning , bad touch and short of pace Wilson not a left bck and unproven elsewhere Delap throws dont work any more and too slow Fuller lost pace and poor goal scoring record Etherington lost pace poor passer otherwise Pennant no point keeping him if you are not playing him Tonge does he still exist and Soares Jones is he ever going to play again Walters only good enough as squad player
Controversial but I want us to move on and thats what we need to do
