Adjourned until after the Euros. FA can't ban him this season. How convenient!

If convicted he will face jail its without a doubt. For a racially aggravated section 5?? Don't be silly, it'll be a fine and some form of community order at worst.

Since when does a footballer ride a Coach and Horses through the legal system and name his own trial date? The world's gone mad.

I can't see him getting anything.
His defence will focus on why he'd be racist towards a black man when he plays for a football Club that has many black players.

now thats funny but quite a serious point.banned from all football stadia for two years. The daft thing is that if it was a member of the public who'd done this at a football ground then the OIC of the case would usually apply for such an order and a lot of the time the magistrate would go on to impose one John Terry's a dick!

If convicted he will face jail its without a doubt. Does that mean my suggestion that it should be a criminal offence to be captain of a cheating scummy gloryhunting team has now been made law?

Adjourned until after the Euros. FA can't ban him this season. How convenient! I dont think the FA could ban him anyway? What grounds would you ban him on? this is a police matter not a football matter.

I find this case very intriguing. I just find it so difficult to believe that Terry, having played in England at this level for so long and knowing his every move is on ten different cameras, would be stupid enough to shout "you black cunt" loudly across the pitch at someone.
I don't have any opinion on whether he's a racist or not but even if he is, surely even he wouldn't stupid enough to do something like that?

I doubt if the reason for the late trial date is to benefit John Terry. Most, if not all of the witnesses (for prosecution and defence) will be involved in football and many of them will be playing every weekend, some week days and some will be going to the European Championships. Given that the taxpayer would have to pick up the bill for ANY loss of earnings, the judge has done us all a favour by setting the trial date for after the Euros.

.... how is this any different than the Suarez issue. Is it just that it is going through the legal system? Yes, Ferdinand didn't make a complaint on the day of the game and it wasn't included in the referee's report. No FA investigation. A member of the public reported it to the police so it's a criminal matter.

surely the trial shouldnt last longer than a week though fa hearings take place during the season The "trial" would normally last less than a day for such a trivial offence . Classic example of a high worth individual employing the best lawyers (Barristers in this case) to obfuscate and intimidate the weak PCS and judiciary. Since when has saving taxpayers money been a concern of any Govt in the last 15 years? It is bullshit to suggest that Chelsea players cannot attend a trial during the season - how many hours a day do they actually work? Ordinary people have to attend at great(er) inconvenience to give evidence. Any afternoon over a few days is perfectly feasible. Not a great advertisement for UK Justice System in my opinion.

I doubt if the government has had any say in the matter. The judge will have made the decision following normal guidelines. Many many trials are scheduled at a convenient (often less costly) time for witnesses - why should this one be any different?

He'd have to be fucking mentally deranged or the next best thing. Jury's out for me.
