We will be 10th after tomorrow with a bunch of clubs hovering below us. This 8th position seems great at the minute but it can easily turn to 15th over a few weeks. I am still concerned about how we have played since Sept. We do not have the same fluency as last season and every game seems to be a real struggle & a grind! About this time last season I was slightly worried (losing 3-0 at Wet Sham). But then we won the quarter-final, hammered Newcastle and Wolves and then destroyed Owen Coyle's ego. KTF

Probably there most comfortable win of the season and it could have been more. TP must take a lot of responsibilty for it as he's the one who no doubt told the player not to cross the half way line or show any attacking intent. Woeful truely woeful against the worst Man U team on paper we're ever likely to face.

Sorry lads but your all far to fucking negative is worse than reading the New Signings thread fuck me grow a pair! What were you expecting us to do come out and role em over? Unlikely to 'roll them over'' but maybe TP could have grown a pair and provided Premier League quality opposition and given them a game.

Lots of huff and puff. No end product. The same tactic worked at Liverpool (5 man midfield), but not tonight once we'd conceeded the peno. And definately not after we gave them the second The result the world was expecting. Could have been 3 penos and berbatov missed a sitter at the death. 36 years since we last won at OT. Pulis out

Anything other than a surrender show would be nice, even if the score was the same. We didnt surrender at all, I just cant be arsed to argue

You can blame the manager for the negatve mindset behind the game plan - to which the players are expected to conform. So what were his instructions to the team... 'Go out and be really negative, make sure we don't create any chances'. Nearly right - actually it was 'go out and if you have to be negative, so be it. Minimise risks and if that means creating nothing, again, so be it. The mantra is 'danger limitation at all times.

Don't think we could of put a better side out tonight, they are the champions, and will still be at the end of the season imo. They haven't scored in open play and we were the first side to take points off'em this season, ffs .

There is nothing to argue about after another inept away display courtesy of the premier leagues most negative manager.

You say he told them not to cross the half way line yet even the commentators said Pulis was screaming at them to get out and press up more.

1) We are a mid table team 2) we play in our own mini league - these games are ''bonus'' games. If we get anything, its a confidence+ position bonus that is all 3) The games in our own mini league matter, I would even go as far as classing every team from 7th down as being in our mini league and so long as we win/draw most of these we will survive and possibly finish top 10. 4) Our seasons goal has to be 15th, anything above is a positive as it shows we are competing at the upper end of our mini league. We cannot, do not and will not compete against any of the teams above 6th place due to financial disadvantages. Our best hope is a cup when its winner takes all, as anyone can perform on their day, however 7/10 times in the league we will loose, and 2/10 we will draw, and 1/10 we will win against the top 6 sides.
Odds are allways massively against us, very few teams take points or win against the top 6, never mind the top 2 especially away from home. A point would be considered a bonus point and celebrated, but 3 points against those in our mini league is most important.
Saturday is now a big game for us, a draw is going to be rather dissapointing as we need to start picking more points up at home with the horrible run of away fixtures that we have.

If he was focused on damage limitation then surely he would not have played both Kenwyne and Crouch? As the other nine were so committed to damage limitation, it would not have mattered who your front two were (either Jerome or Fuller)- in the game plan, they were never going to get near goal enough to cause United any problems

Then surely - if you want to play 'negatively' - you would just play the one striker so you could have 10 committed to damage limitation?
