Does seem somewhat akin to what we suffered with the Icelandics, they promised much and were like a shaft of gold...... until it turn out to be golden piss What is happening at Vale is nothing like what we "suffered" with the "Iceland ics". For a start the Icelanders actually did a rather decent job of buying and stabilising the club when Coates (at the time) had not got the spare cash to take us further. Despite both Coates (in his first attempt at running the club) and the Icelanders having their critics, both parties actually did the right thing by the club. Coates by selling to the Icelanders when he didn't have the cash to take us further and the Icelanders by getting us promoted and in selling the club back to Coates when he had the resources to move us forward. I bet the average Vale fan would love to have his club treated the way Stoke City were treated by the Icelanders and by Peter Coates. Spot on.

One could argue that the Icelanders saved us from the abyss when they came in and gave us hope where there was none.
They were certainly absolutely nothing compared to what is going on at the Vale and when their last throw of the dice failed and they ran out of money, the sold the club in a reasonable deal that allowed Peter Coates to move the club forward.
As said above, I'm sure the Fail fans would kill for owners like that!

not listening myself, what;s this CCTV talk about? A caller rang in, explained that he now lives abroad, used to follow the Vale, used to have his own company and that he was the one who installed their CCTV. Then went on to say that he doesn't wanna talk about that....

I thought the chap who rang in slating the Black and Gold mob hit the bullseye.
Lets take large step back and see what the real problem is, and that's our rise to the upper echelons of the Premier league, and our Darth Vadar stranglehold over European club football. As we have gradually got better and better, so their crowds have fallen away as they become more disillusioned with the fact that they are not a division higher than us any more. And so the snowball grows... All the problems the Vale have encountered can be placed firmly down to lack of funds, and the sparsity of their numbers on matchday is the reason for this. Even some apparently illogical managerial appointments probably could have worked with a bit more backing. If they were regularly getting 6 or 7k through the gates, does anyone honestly think they'd be hanging round in the 4th?
All this Black and Gold crap... with crowds of 4000 odd how was Bratt supposed to magic up a decent squad? He pulled a rabbit out of the hat getting Adams in as boss, and what does he get in return? The hounding out of this honest club man has come back to haunt those responsible. It's Bill Bratt who deserves any pity from these quarters, the fans have been abysmal on every level and its all because of their jealousy of our success.

LOL thank you, best larf I've had in ages. Seriously though, I feel for the Vale fans. Our city would be the poorer without them, would we really want them to go under?

Believe it or not the system vale have in is one of the best in the country, it was used as a demo for the fa and all sorts.

I don't really give two hoots about the Fail but it does beg the question "what the fuck are the FA doing and does their fit and proper persons test actually exist"? Didn't Perry Deakin or whatever he is called have some kind of history of dodgy dealing and causing supporter unrest when he was the CEO at Northampton Town? Having shafted them, he has clearly taken the piss up the road at our very poor, second rate, neighbours. Perry Deakin sounded very dodgy in a recent radio interview
