Surely now we have a realistic chance of making the playoffs with Taggart. We have seen the differecne he makes to the defence and the whole team in general, this should push us forward and give us the impetus to make a sustained push for the Premiership. The board have put their hands in their pockets and this signing further highlights their commitment to Stoke. Surely now,the final few pledges should come rolling in and we can look forward to the good times.
I am convinced now that this is the best Stoke side in some time, even better than the 92 side and i have never felt so excited and optimistic about being a Stoke fan.The signing of Taggart will make us a force in this division and other players will now see Stoke as a good place to come and play your trade,we should be able to compete with pretty much anyone in the division for the signings of top players.
Everything is looking pretty rosy at the Brit now and another 1,000 pledges and a win at Crwho? will top off a fantastic week. ;D
COME ON STOKE!

I wouldn't consider play offs a realistic target. If we finish where we are now, and I think we will, its a healthy season.

Taggart will steady the defence, but we will still lose a few games between now and the end of the season. i think we are now only a quality midfielder away from being realistic challengers though...however,a win at Crewe is a must if we are to have a chance of closing the gap between us and 6th...in fact I think we need to beat Ipswich and Watford too to genuinelly say that we are "play off contenders".

A lot will depend upon our form in the next few games between now and the transfer deadline. If the return of Gerry means we get back to the form of his previous spell and get to within 2-3 points of a playoff place as the deadline approaches then we could expect the board to go the extra mile and give TP the resources to try to make that final push by signing (on a short contract) a midfielder to complete the jigsaw. I'd say the chances are about 3 - 1 against - but those are amazingly low odds given how we were feeling during our summer pre-season shambles! PS - another loan spell for Crossley wouldn't go amiss either and might be the icing on the cake.
