If Id've gone there Id've probably been lynched. " ( Regarding interest from other clubs ) It's not a criticism of our fans because I was joining in the barrage of abuse towards him last season just as much as anyone else ;D but it does sound as if he could be referring to that as a reason why he was unkeen to join us. I'm sure the 80K a week wages QPR offered was the main thing that swayed him though ;D

North-east press seem to think he was talking mainly about Sunderland I'm sure he was referring to Sunderland as one of the clubs, but I wouldn't be surprised if we were one of the clubs he was referring too aswell ;D |

If anything, I think the abuse he got here would have been a plus for us, I'm sure he would have relished playing in front of that sort of crowd every other week. |

I have mixed views re Barton
really impressed in some ways however his rap sheet makes Bowyer,Bellamy e.t.c. look like angels
darn good player (he's not top drawer like some would have it though imho) & a leader.
I think he would have relished playing in front of our crowd
don't forgrt TP goes back in for old targets so his name is bound to crop up again 1 day

TBH I think Barton is the type of player that TP would probably be able to get the best out of and with Denis Smith around as a father figure think he may have been ok. Never mind we move on knowing that Warnock and Barton is a match made in heaven. Not.

I think the truth is joey needs a club that he can be top dog at with manager and fans he can walk over, say what he wants and act how he wants. He know if he crosses TP he'll get 'butted and alienate the fans, oh and the 80k and living in London

The only reason Barton didn't sign for us is becauase Pulis changed his mind after a deal on the transfer had all but been agreed.
Clearly has an alternative target lined up who he thinks will join us, be that Palacios or someone else.
