Our away goal is important because it cancels out any advantage thun could get from nicking a goal at the Brit

Did you see how tough it was to control the ball on that pitch?
The atmosphere was great here tonight and the lads did exactly what they were asked with a mixture of reserves and first-teamers playing. What do people really expect?
Professional performance with hopefully something left in the tank for Sunday. Job done.

An excellent result with a professional performance. Cracking goal from Pugh after good work from Kenwyne.
The only thing lacking was a second goal to really kill them off, hopefully Walters will make amends for that miss next week.

We won and kept another clean sheet, that's good enough for me.

Shocking performance tonight imo against a team that were about ryman league standard and plastic pitch or not, a 1-0 scoreline is a huge dissapointment. If that is the best our management team can do they should fuck off right now and let us get someone in who can coach players to pass and move and at least play something that resembles football. Sparky or mon anyone?

Having calmed down now I still think it was a trluy awful game and a relatively awful performance from Stoke
But in mitigation we were playing an even more awful team on a pitch unfit to call a suitable surface for professional football
and so for that - I can understand and accept the way our lads played
I hope we thrash them at home just to reinforce the point made tonight i.e.
Even with less than half a team & on a truly mickey mouse pitch - we could still beat them
And, how the hell do UEFA allow such ridiculous surfaces to qualify for a serious international football competition to be played upon ?

Yeah couldn't agree more...we've played our first 3 european games won them all and not conceded a goal. We've played one of the most expensive teams ever assembled in the best league in the world and kept a clean sheet all with a threadbare squad that's patched up at best.....My god we're an awful squad and our Manager, he hasn't got a clue has he, can't work with what he's got, can't bring the best out of his players.......WHY DON'T ALL YOU DOOM MONGERS BUGGER OFF AND SUPPORT MAN CITY OR ALIKE, YOU ALL GET ON MY TITS!!!!!

a win is a win. the priority is the league and always will be. the poor performances from tonge and arismendi in particular tonight just highlights the need to add quality to the squad in several positions.
stop posting negative crap and try to enjoy the european games, we have frustrated the opposition in three games now and so far they seem to have very little idea of how to cope with it suggesting that we could go into the group stages and possibly beyond.

Interest thread this. According to the voting (in another thread, the offical MoM-thread) 37% thinks Walters was MoM, followed by Upson 17%.
Myself thought Wilson, Pugh and Sörensen were our best players. Etherington and Arismendi looked good too. And K Jones and Upson were a bit of a disppointment.

Of course, but i would rather see some better quality players pull on the shirt. some people are never happy and have VERY short memorys. After years of seeing Asaba, Dyer, Paul Williams etc etc, seeing Kenwyne, Walters, Huth and Ryan pulling on the shirt it shows how far we have come as a football club. As for the game I think it's a good result away from home. Nicked an away goal and I don't think they pose much threat up-front so I am fairly confident for next week.

We were better than I thought to be honest and clearly the better side. I expected us to really struggle against a side top of a fairly decent league who have a home record that is frankly superb. Our transfer policy is fucking wank but we were ok and very professional tonight.
Four games, and four clean sheets. There are some real thick, dribbling, dumbass, twats frequenting this board of late.

Solid European away performance. No injuries. Key players didn't have to play the full 90. Job done. Totally agree, couldn't be better, well Walters could have made it better lo

I listened to Radio Stoke 1st half, we were the better side by some distance. Watched 2nd half on the internet, and frankly, we did what we had to do. It wasn't pretty, but it was effective and they had one shot on target all game. Did some of you really think we'd do anything different given the lack of real depth in our squad, away from home, on a strange surface and with the potential for the fairy diving they indulged in?
I'll never be a Pulis fan, but he got exactly what was required from the players tonight. No arguments from me.

Those of you who thought we were awful can't have seen many of our away games over the last 4 years.
If FC Thun are the standard of a Ryman League side, they did well to put out Palermo.

For me job done. Ideally we need to reach the group stages. 50% complete and in all honesty I couldn't give a flying fuck if it annoys 100% of the purists out there. Tough shit. We won, get over it!
