Wanted Walters to stick that one away at the end but will accept the return on my £5 bet on 1-0 at 11/2 ;D

Why the hell didn't Whelan have a pop from the free kick at the end. 30 yards out with a outfield player in goal - we should have gone for it then.
Still, we should be pleased at 1-0 up with the home leg to come. I think we'll win 2-0 at the Brit.

We're now on a 5 match unbeaten run in Europe (stretching over 37 years) and 4 matches unbeaten without conceeding a goal in all competitions this season. ;D And let's not forget that.......clean sheets mean one thing - you can't lose!!

So, who was more dangerous home team. We (Hajduk) or Thun ? ;D
Congratulations on victory, now if you don't lose in 2nd leg we can say that we lost out to a team that entered group stage of EL ;D

I'll take it. In all honesty - and I don't want to disappoint to many FCThuners however I didn't really see anything really better than a good Championship team. Not much threat and if and when we get some more signings we surely have far too much for Thun. I expect a full strength team at the Brit + the hostile atmosphere should seal the deal.

The commentator said that we can only play the sauad as nominated for first game. So no new signings can play. Even so we should stuff them

Their best goal keeper cant play. Our team had a few second teamers in, We have the away goal. What a superb position to be in.
I am 52 and saw the Conroy Greenhoff team in the late 7os. This team had a superb manager in Tony Waddington but twice he went to Europe and lost to Kaeserslauton and Ajax (apollogies for the spelling) But Tony Pulis has beaten two teams so must be thought of as the best Stoke european Manager

To be fair to Waddo both Kaiserslautern and (especially) Ajax were a different class to either Hajduk or Thun. Remember, in those days the European Cup was for Champions only so the UEFA Cup had some great sides in it. Ajax had been the top side in Europe only two years before we played them and were still probably in the top ten or twenty in Europe. If (hopefully) we get to the group stage of the Europa then TP may start to test his metal against the sort of side Waddo had to face in Europe.

We need to do a Bullard with Tonge and tear his contract up as he is not footballer Arismendi looked okay and perhaps may get more of run out as a sub? Perhaps now he has had a proper pre-season with the main squad and hopefully soem reserve games he can prove he is an astute signing by our err foreign scouting network...
