Too attacking for a TP full back and not a good enough winger for him either. He sits on Newcastle's bench most of the time.

Silly long hair, defensive liability, runs arounds a lot with not much end product. Hmmm Always been his dream to play in Germany it seems, oh and then to sign for Bolton less than a year later!

I think he flatters to deceive. And only a madman like Maradona would play him at full back.

Presumably this is the alternative if SWP goes to Wigan or Bolton?

I'd have him.
Come the end of the window, who would most rather have in the squad:
Jonas or Pugh?

Heard today that we are in talks with his agent! Take it or leave it as I'm not making it up I saw a reference to him somewhere in an article about Joey Barton today....it did say Stoke were interested in him

If Pulis wouldn't sign Matty Taylor on a free, why on earth would he sign a fancy continental type for real money? I'd be amazed if this rumour is true.

I've dug up an old Telegraph article from when Newcastle were relegated citing him at 50k/week. Presumably we'd be giving SWP similar once we factored in fiddling the wage ceiling, though admittedly, JG would likely come with a greater transfer fee. He'd be good cover (like Pugh) and competition for a few positions.

Possibly, I just guess it's hard to take in paying back up that much.
That and I really don't think Gutierrez is much to write home about. Ok player but nothing more. I don't think he's worth more than 2 million and 20k a week and that's never going to happen.

He's very fast on the break, but his delivery is not as good as Pennant or Etherington. If he was available I would definately try to sort out a deal. He would be very useful in the Europa Leage

Indeed Bayern, the only person the ever play Jonas at full back was the eccentric Maradona!
He would be a good addition to the squad in my opinion. It would take an outstanding winger to displace either Pennant or Etherington in the first XI, but we defininately need somebody who can play on either wing to supplement the squad.

We definitely do Stokelad, I just guess I find it hard to believe that we'd get someone Jonas or SWP who are on their wages as predominantly squad fillers/different options. I'm not moaning that we'd be paying them too much or anything like that, it's just comprehending it!

We don't know what will happen do we... Pennant could pick up a knock tomorrow morning and we could bring in Jonas or SWP. They could take his place for 5-6 games and have an absoulute stormer!
If we do bring in another winger, they will get plenty of games for Stoke. Wingers in a TP team have to do a lot of work up and down the line, both defending their full back as well as attacking when on the front foot.

I'm not moaning that we'd be paying them too much or anything like that, it's just comprehending it! I abstain from posting about football for the main part because I don't want to have someone quoting me calling someone shit or brilliant 6 months down the line. However, if Jonas can be gotten on less than our top earners (or Ethers/JP if they aren't top earners) then he's a good addition to the squad and I'd have no problem seeing him fight into the side on merit or start the cup games etc. I am basing this on a perceived wage of about 40-45k a week which if Football Manager was to be believed isn't that much more than Amdy faye was on. While Newcastle may have been fairly free-spending, we will probably see ourselves having to pay those sorts of wages to continue to attract mid-table standard players. Overall, as an addition to the squad (and while I wouldn't send Pulis a shit in a jiffy bag to see him start, I don't think he's a first XI player) he would be a good acquisition.

You just don't know what you're going to get with Jonas, and his crossing isn't the best. If he was available on a cheap enough deal, then not bad as back up, but Wright-Phillips is quicker and much more of a goal threat.
