A few on here seem to think Fuller is going to come back from his injury as good as before. Not a hope i'm afraid, time caught up with him about the time of his injury and I think TP knew that when he was trying to offload him to Sunderland. His best days are sadly behind him.

Time hadn't caught up with him before his injury - for the first third of last season he was as important as ever. He had a couple of iffy games and Tone dropped him and we looked awful without him and came to life when he came on.
Then Walters and KJ clicked and we finally figured out a way to play without him, but even then he looked good when he came on - goal against Newcastle, frightened an already-terrified Bolton at Wembley. Even the game he got injured in, he gave us a kick up the arse when he came on and had the ball in the net but was just offside. We missed having him on the bench in the cup final.
You can write him off, but after all he's done for us, I'm not going to.

Errr thanks for that......maybe we know his best days are behind him but he will still get the crowd on their feet when he runs at defenders.

He was a superb player but he struggled last season and any thoughts he can come back as the Ricky of 2 - 3 seasons ago are a pipe-dream I'm afraid.

From August-December he was as important as he's always been. The manager then dropped him and we were, frankly, gash without him. It wasn't until March that we figured out how to play without him. I don't see how that's struggling?

4 goals in just the 9 starts last season - and not one start between August and November, and none after New Years Day.
He's not going to have a blistering 7, 12 or 16 minute cameo every time.
Still just as effective whenever he was on the pitch IMO.
I think 2009-10 was his best season for us, despite the lack of league goals. And he's had no run of starts since then.
This achilles injury could change everything, though, admittedly.

He might, he might not, depending on the severity of the injury. Bollocks to say he'd lost it before the injury though.

He was a superb player but he struggled last season and any thoughts he can come back as the Ricky of 2 - 3 seasons ago are a pipe-dream I'm afraid. So you must be an orthopaedic surgeon or at the very least a physio to predict Rics recovery. Perhaps you are a clairvoyant or a star gazer or perhaps you're just living up to your user name. We need Ric back playing like only he can. I have faith in him and at the very he least needs to be given a chance by the club whose first team he carried for at least three seasons. Perhaps you are happy to discard him at the drop of a hat but I am certainly not ready to.

he did look sharp at Wembley I agree
he had some stinkers last season (Blackpool @ home anyone?) but overall he was still very often our main threat, especially in away games
however there is no way of knowing how he's going to be after his injury & the club havnt sounded that positive about any dates for a comeback

How will this latest injury affect Ric psychologically? Will he be afraid to 'put it all in' in case it goes again, which would effectively be the end of his career? I really hope he comes back, as he'd definitely be an asset off the bench, and would be a good starting option in other games...maybe Europa Cup, Carling Cup, early FA Cup rounds etc.

he completely ruptured his achilles tendon - that means the ability to flex the ankle is lost, that is the severity of the injury. hes been quite a player and im sure he will be back by xmas, lets reserve judgement until he plays though. saying he is finished now is ludricous.

Can you pick my lottery numbers while you're in this apparent "Mystic Meg" frame of mind? Nobody will know how the great man will return until he is ready for selection. Hopefully he will be as good as new but only time will tell. One thing we do know is that he deserves more respect than to be written off while recovering from serious injury. If he doesn't make it back Stoke City will be all the poorer for his absence and following Stoke won't quite be the same without our living legend.

Its impossible to know how the latest injury will affect Ric and there is no doubt he is not the player he was 2 years ago, but he is still an extremely important part of the squad IMO. If he can come back at all well from this injury he will still be a fantastic impact sub and a real handful for any defence.

I just hope that we stay in europe long enough for fuller to have a crack at it. If there is anyone who deserves to then it's him as I don't think we'd be where we are as a football club today without him. I hope he comes back the same player i really do but either way, i think it's his final season at stoke city sadly
