With a free Saturday afternoon, what better chance is there to sit in front of the box and lose some money on our four-legged friends? I haven't had a good look at anything yet, apart from the tingle Creek and I'm already in a dilemma about who to go for. The ground is likely to be too soft for Twist Magic, Ashley Brook will probably go belting out in front and run out of juice in the last furlong, and I can't see anything worth giving serious consideration to in the rest of the field. So, the decision has to be between Voy Por Ustedes and Monet's Garden. On decent ground, over 2m you'd have to go for Voy por Ustedes, but even though Monet's Garden is more of a 2-and-a-half mile specialist, he's still useful over the shorter trip, and the conditions could blunt the speed advantage that VPU has. Just to further complicate things, VPU beat Monet's Garden by a length or so last season with a 5lb weight advantage. They go off level weights today, but 12 months on, there's got to be more scope for VPU to have improved as a 6 year old than for Monet's Garden to have come on any at 9. If left to my own devices I will inevitably choose the wrong one, so will await the wisdom of others to guide me to the path to riches....(well, about an extra £10 worth anyway)
