I was accessing and posting on this site perfectly well until Wednesday afternoon when after I’d replied to a post the page started to go very slowly, after a couple of minutes I got the “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” message. I thought the site had bolloxed but it transpires that it’s not the site that’s the problem. From what I can gather after searching through a few forums the only other instance of this happening was when someone’s IP had been blocked by Proboards. Thinking this couldn’t be the case (after all I’d not posted anything remotely swearing or controversial in the 2 posts that I’d made). So I tried unplugging my wireless router (the IP is different when it goes through the router) and hey presto I can access this site, it stops working when I plug my router back in though and I need the router connected as it’s required by other people in the household. I have no problem at all accessing any other site with the router plugged in only this site. Any advice or info would be appreciated. ( I have already contacted admin BTW) GPG Gouranga.

Have you tried a traceroute to this site on the command prompt?
Sounds like a routing issue right enough....

Sorry mate, bit presumptious
type "tracert" then either the IP address or the website address (works quicker on IP). this might identify your issue.

Excuse my ignorance Dixie, which IP do I type in mine or the Proboards? If it’s the proboards how do I find it out? GPG Gouranga.

No problems mate.
The IP for this site is 216.12.200.77. It's that you need to type in, otherwise you are asking your computer to find a route back to itself, and then they get confused

Gotcha Dixie. I'll plug my router in and give it a blast. I assume I'm looking for a ping time and response? Thanks for the help. GPG Gouranga.

With the router unplugged it gets to proboards27.com [216.12.200.77] on the 19th hop. However with the router plugged in it gets to ivhou-207-218-223-75.ev1servers.net [217-218-223-75] then on the following hops (21-30) it just comes up with “request timed out” And I have to unplug my router and connect straight from my cable modem (I’m on Virgin media BTW) to get back on this site. Any possible solutions anyone? GPG Gouranga.

No idea fella, best emailing or PM smudge or davef (guess you probably have) and see what the problem is . As fas as I could see you hadn't posted owt worth a ban when you popped up on the new rivals the otherday saying you couldn't get on here .
have you thought of registering another username with a different email addy, to see if that still has problems too, you can always delete it at a later date
