It was a good workout today for the players. Ethers kicked out at one of their players in the second half which was a little silly, luckily the ref was sensible and just told him what would of happened if had been league match. A good day out and a decent following from Stoke.

It ended 1-1 after 1-0 at half time. Pretty strong side out there. Newport YMCA tomorra. Opinions?

Pre-season games are totally fucking meaningless in the context of results. I remember losing to Rhyl. Didn't do us much harm in the scheme of things.

Totally agree RAF, I mean I remember losing to Real Madrid in Austria thinking we were doomed, we went on that season only to win promotion!

Friendlies are more important than league or cup games.

Went to Newport game today and other than Danny Pugh at right back it was pretty much a full strength team for the full 90 minutes. Newport were well organised and got amongst us from the word go and to be honest we didn't really impress!
I know it's only a pre-season friendly but you can't help concluding again that we really do need to bolster our attacking options and, although Glen Whelan tried manfully to fill the midfield playmaker role today, that creative spark is just not there.
Frustrating that although we seem to be prepared to spend in the transfer market, the madness of wildly overpaid players - with over inflated opinions of their worth, makes it so difficult to attract the players we need to move on from the 3 year plan

Good point Roro - but I am from Bristol so you have to make allowances! He was on my right when attacking in the first half and I was behind their goal

It looked like we murdered them from highlights!

Oh dear Jon, that was quite a blaze over the bar. Kenwyne did his best to miss that goal, but not quite.
