Ford brought out a Fiesta I think it was in the S & H colours.
have got a copy from Thailand and will watch tonight. Looking forward to it.
Starsky's Ford Torino far smarter that the General Lee or any of it's contemporaries. Coooooooooool beyond words.

As a bit of an appreciator of Yank-mobiles, I was dissappointed to hear that the Ford Torino drives like a dog - brakes optional. That came from David Soul in a programme I saw about S&H a few years ago. They had 6 cars used for filming - one bloke now owns two of 'em in a big garage in Texas I think.
The General - now that's a different matter - the '69 Dodge Charger is a classic amongst classic American 'muscle' cars. Personally I liked 'em both. As a child of the 70/80's it was my duty to either jump in to my dad's car via the window and/or bounce over the bonnet Hutch-like at least once!!

The Torino just had a real cooool 70s look about it. One of those classc looking machines like the Stingray and the Mustang. A car that IMHO was meant to be driven at leisure with one hand on the wheel and the other round the passenger seat. Real pimp car that was built for cruisin (not that way ) The Dodge Charger was a nice car but didn't have the "Superfly" look about it which I thought made Yank Tanks have a real appeal to me as a kid.

Agreed, I like Stingrays - my fave Corvette incarnation (d'you remember a TV show called "The Magician" starring that geezer who was the Hulk, he had a white Stingray I think). This though - has to be the ultimate Auto-icon. I saw the General Lee at a car show in Manc once, but the Eliminator is the holy grail for me. The only inanimate object that I'd have to do a "Wayne" tribute to if I saw it - "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy..." ;D P.S. If you like US cars, you could do worse than spend a few hours at the Car Show they have at Tatton Park in July. All makes and models and eras.

The magician I remember yeah...Bill Bixby. Used to stop villians by making doves appear out of his sleeves etc
Have often thought about Tatton Park but always been unavailable that particular weekend . Might try this Summer. Bauer Millet's in Manchester had the Corvette indy 500 pace car for sale last time was there. What a machine.

... then the world's an even sadder place than I think it is. Utter waste of time & money to do a remake of a truly crap '70s show; or to go see it. Dave, if it's wheels you want, find a piccy of a 1968 American Motors AMX. Now THAT was an automobile.

;D Nice one Dave! Mine was dark green with the white stripes. The one below it, BTW, is a Javelin (4-seater, Mustang competitor). My AMX had the 390 cu in V-8, dual exhausts, topped out at 135 mph flat out (I can attest ). I could take one of those Dodge Chargers off the line easy; even if he had the 440 cube Street Hemi. Happy days.
