Those were the days Bracewell who hardly ever gets mentioned on here was shear class. From this era Heath Bracewell and the donkey Chapman went on to win the title with other clubs. Hudson's return was a great day. The donkey Chapman scored an awful lot of goals (mostly off his arse, elbow or nose) and was signed by......................... Arsenal !

Being one of only 4;000 in attendance v Norwich at the Vic and beating Wolves 4-0 ( McGuire all 4 ) to survive on last game of the season!!.....Another one was v Coventry at The Vic and Coventry had to win there last 3 games to survive and after they had won the first one of the 3 they arrived at stoke and were 1-0 up until the 90th minute and we got a penalty...up steps Ian Painter to take the point that would of relegated them and he fucking missed!!!....they beat Everton lasy game and they survived.

Tried to google it with no luck Boxing Day and he did indeed score.....we lost the day after to Notts County away 0-4 when teams played on consecutive days at Xmas and Easter back then.

...and just to digress - the Donkey Chapman's bloody sister. God what an arrogant spunktrumpet she was. Head so far up her own arse it was unbelievable. Mind you, if she had put her head up her arse it would have spared us the site of that munterish fizzog. Like looking at the donkey Chapman in drag.
Just watch someone come on now and say they are married to her/him/it.

Best memory was the thrilling side that was built for 82/83. Worst is Barker deciding not to use the international midfield. Dam that POMO.
Beating Liverpool in 83.84 was very special.

Wasn't Big Daft Chapman's return with Arsenal the first home game of the season, maybe first game of the season? Remember the Boothen singing Big Daft Chapman for most of the match and it seemed to get to him and he had a shocker.
He was in Sammi Belles/Maxims that night with some other Stoke players and got loads of stick!
Chamberlain was a God that season and I will never forget him going down the wing by the Boothen Paddock and the excitement of the crowd everytime he got the ball. My dad who saw Matthews reckoned Chambo was better than him!
Come on without, come on within You aint seen nothing like Mark Chamberlain!

I was with a mate who was from Leeds and we watched Leeds - Wolves in their Kop that day. At half time the announcer gave the score as 4-0 to Birmingham, was well pissed off. He then corrected and I couldn't help a 'Get in'! I had an uncomfortable second half with lots of looks from the locals watching me! I always thought they thought I may have been a Wolves fan celebrating Blues demise.

Second half of 83/84,I believe we gained one more point than that great Liverpool team. Alan Hudson was fantasic and remains my fave Stoke player for how he played jan to may '84.
