Yes we were weary and carrying injuries and we did not play like we can, but that said you have to credit Man City for stopping us from playing. I would not say we froze. I think Mancini played us brilliantly.
We have two main attacking methods - set pieces and wing play.
Wing Play Matty should not have been on the pitch at all and was not really a threat. Walters should have been there with Whithead in midfield, in any event that wing was never in the game.
On the other wing, as soon as JP got the ball he was hacked down.
As soon as KJ got the ball, at least two players were all over him making it difficult for him to feed the wingers
Set Pieces They defended a high line. They didn't give throws or free kicks away in the final third meaning we were robbed of dangerous set pieces.
As usual, the defence was pretty solid, but Jesus, I hope we do some more passing practice in training next season. Retaining possession between defence and midfield could have made our lives a lot easier this season, not least yesterday when their entire team camped between the half way line and our 18yd line, waiting for us to give the ball back to them, which we did regularly.
