If we dont go up this season without a doubt and i believe he should be sacked. At the start of last season we as fans didnt harrour any realistic hopes of geting promotion.Coates then splashed the cash and Pulis got everything he wanted to get us in the playoffs. This without argument was not achived by Puilis extreemley defensive attitude and trying to hang on to 1-0 scorelines and we sat back and conceded goal after goal in the dying seconds of games. This season has been very similar,Pulis has most definetely got everything hes wanted with coates help again. But this time the goal is a lot closer and we can almost taste it.If it all goes wrong again what do we do next season. Spend a fortune on loanees again and with Pulis almost totally predictable game plans it obvious for all to see that this Pulis ball style of football is never ever going to get us promoted.Hope we do go up of course but i just cannot see it.If we fail jhe must go..

naa
If we don't go up, we don't go up
we've hit a bad patch, its been a great season
Pulis sometimes annoys the shit out of me, Gallagher not being used being one of my gripes and his insistance on playing certain players in certain positions.
We've had some very memorable away results, Woves,Cardiff, Sheff Utd,Scunthorpe ( those 2 late goals), Blackpool (men against boys)
home - Cardiff, Brazil, Southampton (we never used to beat these) and that 2nd half comeback v Scunthorpe
Puils has put us back on the map, TV Pundits talking about us frequently
We aint lost the autos just yet so there is still hope but should it go tits up then Pulis is still the man for me

TV Pundits talking about us frequently Only in a negative tone ??? I want us to go up to be honest at any cost i suffered long enough without seeing top flight football at stoke for many a moone.i know its deperate to say that but its true.My point was/is that (IF)we dont go up do you think he is the man for the job.I personally dont think so he has had everything/player hes wanted and would have failed two years on the trot

“The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.”
;D
no one talked about us 'cause we were shit
we're not shit anymore
ok, we have been playing a bit shit lateley but on the scale of things the club is doing well under Tony Pulis

I think we are having a great season. We have to remember most of the cash Pulis has generated himself...
But, and it's a big but!
With the players we now have, there is simply no need to play players out of position.
Cress on the right midfield? No! It's fine if Pulis wants to play him up front, but we now have plenty of cover for that position.
Pugh? No! Play him in midfield by all means, again, no need for him at the back, there are players better than him at that position.
I can understand managers having the jitters at this stage of the season, but I do expect changes for Sat.

If we fail to make the promised land this season I think Pulis should be sacked... no mercy.
Are we prepared to put up with this garbage football for another season with no end product?
The bloke is patently out of his depth...FFS lads let's get a proper manager...
is Billy Davis still out of work???

Yes, because Billy Davies is renowned for his free flowing, samba football isn't he.

How can Pulis not be to blame. He is the manager and therefore decisions good or bad he gets the acclaim or criticism. He got the acclaim for getting us to the sumit and therefore should stand up and take the criticism for not keeping us there. I do think this kind of thing should be discussed at the end of the season when we can see just how well he has done though!

it is pulis fault! that team he sent out on monday was diabolical, and if he cant get his players motivated for 5 of the biggest games in the history of stoke city then he is to blame im afraid!

I would rather watch the football that Davis produces than the shiit that Tiny produces
plus...
he achieves
admirable quality in a manager that, especially when you have a few bob to spend.

It's not over yet Archie.
Please explain the differences in Davies' style of play to "Tiny's".

Really? I could have sworn Derby's success largely relied on hoofing it up to Steve Howard and then hanging on to a 1-0 win.

Furthermore, the same Billy Davies who prepared for Derby's season in the Premiership by signing lots of Championship players and sleeping with the Chairman's wife?

Post by Titan Uranus on Apr 10, 2008 21:40:22 GMT
Think you were watching a different team Rob
wasn't there a young lad with searing pace who used to cut teams to ribbons (Barnes?)
wasn't there a midfield who could pass a ball and keep possession for more than one minute
if you want to compare Howard with Sidibe...go ahead
how many goals did Howard score?
|
|
|
Post by Deleted on Apr 10, 2008 21:45:27 GMT
I'm not comparing them. I'm comparing the style of play. It depended on lots of long balls to Howard. You raise a good point about Barnes, but let's not pretend they were anything other than a team of defensive long-ball merchants who won 1-0 a lot. Fair play to them, it worked. But to laud Davies and despise Pulis is bizarre - if you're looking for a manager who plays football, as I said, he's not your man.
