Gentlemen, I have visited this forum hundreds of times over the years but never bothered to register till now. Can we stop the froth and look at the FACTS of the issue.
1.The club has a problem with persistent standing in a couple of areas of the ground - you know where they are - and has to act on complaints from SUPPORTERS WHO PAY GOOD MONEY TO WATCH THE MATCH. If someone is constantly standing up in front of you, you have to stand up yourself to see, therefore blocking the view of the person behind you, who then has to stand up, etc.etc. The club puts messages about persistent standing in the programme, on the big screen, in the concourses, and has even given out hundreds of leaflets to fans to explain the problem so no one can say they don't know what is going on I know people will stand up if Stoke are attacking or have a corner or whatever but if people cant sit on their arse for 45 minutes theres a problem. The days of terraces have long gone so we need to get used to it!
2. The stewards don`t just go to certain areas of the ground on a whim to cause "trouble", they go there because they are TOLD to go to deal with a problem which has been identified. If someone is there and has been watched inciting other supporters to stand up to make some stupid point that they have"beaten" the stewards, then they cant really have any argument about being booted out the nearest exit door if they get caught - grow up boys.

Aliman- What about those that pay good money and don't want to sit down? We are all paying the same.
It is an argument that can go on and on. I just don't understand why this country must penalise football fans so much. Terraces are safe and also off the option of standing and even cheaper prices to those that wish to stand. Until we see the re-introduction of the terrace then the seating/standing argument will go on.

If Stoke carry on with trying get people sit down and more and likely telling stewards to set a few examples, atmosphere will dwindle and crowds in the end.

Cant disagree with you - spent many a happy year myself standing on the Boothen End, and cant recall seeing many problems, but Hillsborough, the Bradford fire etc. have put paid to that unfortunately.
Stoke like all clubs are subject to inspections from the Football Licencing Authority and the FA and if they are not seen to be trying to deal with standing in seating areas they can suffer serious implications. Im sure Stoke would want to look at terracing in certain areas of the ground as it would increase the capacity and revenue but its unfortunately a non starter. We have to accept we live in a nanny state but to blame stewards for trying to enforce rules not created by SCFC is a bit daft.

In my experiences most of the people who have seats in the areas where they stand do so so that they can stand themselves. Also I personally like to stand but occasionally I like to sit .If a guy is standing in front of me in an area where it inst usual I have asked them to sit down and I haven't had any problems at all. The stewards down Stoke are aggressive they all have there hard man pvc gloves on and they do in my opinion look and see trouble when there isnt any. Stewards are necessary in the game but there is definitely a right and wrong way to go about it and for far to long now the wrong way has been deployed down Stoke.

They werent even trying to throw him out for standing up, so get your facts right before you come on spouting about stuff you dont even know about.
The steward in question is an idiot, constantly trying to chuck people out. He couldnt get that bloke out the other night, and then 5 minutes later was escorting a young lad out.
The reason the steward kicked off last night was because someone shouted a racist remark and that bloke went off his head asking why he was being racist when we have a lot of black players in our team. Knob head steward came up and tried to kick the bloke out who was telling the "racist guy" to fook off.

Hate to disagree DansViews but I know EXACTLY what I am talking about and also know EXACTLY why the stewards went to the part of the South Stand where there was persistent standing, unlike yourself. (Think you may have seen another incident than the ones I was talking about) To refer to my first posting do you really think the stewards go around willy nilly trying to throw people out , they go there becuse they are TOLD to. If people are constantly flouting the Ground Regulations and many requests to sit down, how do you think the converstion should go: STEWARD: Please sit down in the seats SUPPORTER: F**k Off STEWARD: OK then sorry to have bothered you
Im sure at every ground in the country there are "Knob head stewards" as you put it but they put up with lots of shit from a few aggressive half pissed supporters who just think they can do as they like.

The guy with the big nose is a fucking tool of the highest order, got my mate thrown out against Sunderland and was last night constantly walking past us grinning his bollocks off. He needs to be fucked off before he starts a riot. Also, fair play to the bloke last night for not moving, I noticed at half time they were all waiting for him but he must of just stayed in the ground. He did stay in his seat on the advice of about 15 people. It was a joke the chap in question never causes anyone any grief and he basically got a load of shit off this big nosed yellow teeth rat. He was definitely winding him up in order to get a reaction. This twat is definitely going to be responsible for a whole lot of mither soon. He should be sacked, for incitement.
