He gets on my nerves this guy. An article in The Times today said that "Some of Stoke's football was, although reminiscent of a rugby, perfectly legitimate: the way they carefully gained yards until an attack could be launched".
Just exactly how were we reminiscent like Rugby? This guy was dreadful after the Shawcross injury to Ramsey.
I think Patrick Barclay should suggest to Robert Huth that he plays like a rugby player, would like to see Huth's response to him!!!!
Am I being unfair on Barclay or does anyone agree with me?!!
Thoughts?

That's exactly how we play: gaining ground until we can launch a throw or a dead ball. Unwatchable tripe.

In rugby aren't legitimate passes made sideways and backwards?
Who are the rugby team again?

Time to take the rose tinted specs off Im afraid Yesterday was the first match Id wtched out of the last 5 and my first thought after seeing yet another pass seeimngly aimed for the corner flag (without a stoke man in sight) that we play like rugby.
Its frankly embarrising and the longer Fuller is out of the team the more we look like amateurs punching above our weight.
Full backs are a major weak link and while we have our current crop filling in anything above 13/14 is nothing short of a miracle

Back to the original point though. Barclay is right in the way he describes it. Whether you like it or not is a side issue.

obviously most of us are stupid and don't understand football. watched in a packed pub and everyone appreciated the performance. most who went and have posted on here and other sites seem happy. are we a good footballing side, no. do we need to improve, yes. but i for 1< (and thousands of others) love where we are at the moment, WE ARE STOKE!

Once the season is over, WfW, you won't be renewing your ST as you said so just chill out and look forward to the whistle blowing at 4:50 against Wigan on 22 May. You'll be released from your agony of having to support Tony Pulis's team.

Does he have no hair because his head is constantly up Wenger's arse?, this guy is a joke, i can remember him on the sunday supplement not long ago saying he wants to see football played by Wenger's rules!
If hes getting paid to write articles slating us then he can at least come up with something original instead of copying his bum chum's comments.

Just exactly how were we reminiscent like Rugby? This guy was dreadful after the Shawcross injury to Ramsey. No wonder I buy The Independent. James Lawton, Sam Wallace and Phil Shaw have always been very complimentary and fair. I think Patrick Barclay should suggest to Robert Huth that he plays like a rugby player, would like to see Huth's response to him!!!! Am I being unfair on Barclay or does anyone agree with me?!! Thoughts? Agree but you are wrong about Ryan and the ramsey tart. Ryan did not injure him as it was an accident caused by two committed players going in hard for a 50-50 ball.

He's another who thinks he somehow has some influence on our national game.
He is condescending in the extreme and certainly puts the "sick" in sycophant.
I'm not that bothered about his views on Stoke to be honest but he is certainly right up there in the football snobbery stakes. For a supposedly respected national football correspondent he really doesn't care much beyond the top four and he incessantly drools over "Barca."
Why he thinks anyone in England gives a toss about the Spanish champions is beyond me, it's all very well watching them on SKY but why keep referring to them in everything he does?

waiting forwaddo Its sad that you wont be watching our team again but thats your choice, having said that at least you wont have an arguement if ever you post again.
I cant agree with you that stoke are "unwatchable tripe"
I have over the years suffered from watchable tripe that was truly awesome 4.0 at Wigan springs to mind!
So! however tripe we may be, sadly for me, we are watchable.
What are are you going to do now we are unwatchable????

I said when we got promoted that we are like the kids from the rough end of town who have gate crashed the middle class party. We've nicked all the booze, shagged their girl friends, pissed on the carpet and vomited in the fish tank. We disgust them. They keep calling the police and telling us to leave. But the more they hate us being there, the more we enjoy it and the more determined we are to stay there and continue pissing them off.
Fuck him.
