Benefits lifestyle ;D It's fucking horrible man, ain't no life it's a pile of shite. Sooner i get back into work the better, the problem is i had it too good, big hourly rate and overtime for years then the place went bust. Now i'm struggling to find work that will pay 6.50 an hour which is the minimum i can work for with the kiddie still at school part time and the mrs unable to work full time. That 6.50 will pay the bills and put food on the table, fuck all else though. This country is screwed, a thousand people all going for the same job every time. I've had enough, it sucks It's demoralising and puts a strain on your homelife. Rant over ;D

I'm not on benefits but I don't have a good job either, I've applied for about 40 jobs this last week and have heard fuck all yet.
As for my "I've just got up" post that was a pisstake, it really is a wank life not having proper work. Absolutely wank.

I'll get work soon, positivity is essential at times like this, it's just unfortunate that the trades i am proficient at (construction/manufacture and logistics/warehouse) have been some of the hardest hit by this madness.

Rant over ;D its wank, i was off work for nearly 2 years i felt worthless, couldn't afford to do anything or go anywhere, felt like everyone thought i was a bum scrounging off the state. then i found a temporary warehouse contract for 3 months, i took that (i wasn't much better off financially) started to actually get some self respect and confidence back, then that ended 8 weeks ago, since then i have applied for warehouse, and electrician (my trade) positions and have not had a single reply. back to feeling like shit. I'm sick of feeling like a scrubber and being skint all the bastard time. I've even thought of relocating to a major city and have been applying for jobs around Manchester and Birmingham.

OF COURSE there's benefits abuse and there will be with the new system too and it can always do with tightening up but what I just don't get is why anyone with eyes in their head blames the poor and feckless for ripping them off when it's so totally clear that it's the banks and people taking massive profits offshore who are doing the harm. It's like bullies lining up to kick the playground punchbag, sad as well as stupid.

But salop, do you truly, rationally believe fiddling scroungers are the reason the country's in a mess?? I'm not saying there aren't fiddling scroungers, never have said there weren't some, like I say there are always bound to be but how does saying the most powerless and on the whole rubbish people in a society are capable of bringing it to its knees make any sense??

Roots, have you not thought of self employment of some kind or part time employment of 30 hours a week plus or a combination of the two. The profit/ rate of pay will be supplemented by tax credits.

It's like bullies lining up to kick the playground punchbag, sad as well as stupid. I don't understand why it's just the Arabs going ape shit at the minute. I've worked with people on low income and benefits for the past five years, some are genuine, some aren't and some have just got used to it. It's a shit city to live in from the point of view that nobody will help us out in terms of locating an industry or service in the area to make up for what we've lost. I actually ended up sorting out some work for one of the local politicians who in the 80s decided to say no to Mazdaopening a factory on what is now the festival site as they were worried it'd affect the potbanks. I'm sure back hander's didn't enter into it. Poor fucker was terminally ill on some nasty breathing apparatus, sure it was karma. Not sure what I'd do if I end up in the same boat, all I could think is to get the fuck out of Stoke.

Surely it would be simple to rein in all these employment agencies and distribute jobs directly like they used to. They'd have a field day wandering round the grotty boozers handing out job cards to the bone idle twats that spend all day in there
