My family name is Salt and I`ve just come across a reference to an old Stoke goalie called Herbert Salt, he only played once in a 3 0 win over West Brazil in 1910,does anyone know anything more about him?

Is it just me but does that sound a bit wrong? Normal for Cornwall (sadly I'm marooned in Penzance). The Cornish are more inbred than the Welsh.

Looked him up in my 'a to z of scfc' & 'who's who of scfc' - he's mentioned in both: Herbert Arthur salt, goalkeeper one app, b. Stoke on Trent 1880, died before -1960. Career: Newcastle st peters 1899, scfc1902, Stafford rangers may 1903. ' not the tallest of goalkeepers, herby salt's only league outing for Stoke came in a 3-0 home win over west bromwich Albion in April 1903 when he deputised for Tom Wilkes.' & 'was only a reserve during his short spell at the Victoria ground which lasted half a season ... And left to join Stafford rangers.'
