I will be there around the 6th may and gone by the 9th it usually only takes 24 hrs to process but i will stay at least 2 nights ;D Sounds like good timing! Let me know when your in town and we can do a few pitchers of Beer Lao down by the Mekong. As for driving in from Thailand to Laos - all you need to get is the International Permit for your pickup (where and how in Thailand . . I dunno), then you just get it stamped on the way over. On the Thai side you have to got to four windows just got along in order and they'll give you the required paperwork and stamp your passport etc. On the Lao side only 3 windows . .. . the Lao side is far quicker that the Thai side! The total of taxes for both side is just a few hundred baht - obviously if you don't have Lao visa you'll need get one on arrival. The only other thing is to remember we drive on the right!!! Me and my Dad will with no doubt got through many crates of Beer Lao during there visit . . . as you know from the Wedding!

I'll be setting off to Laos the morning after the final game and i am up for a beer for sure, at least by this time we would have been promoted or in the play offs I had dinner from the street vendors alongside the Mekong last time i was in Vientiane, i got a room at a guest house opposite. I've been to a bar on the front there on a number of occasions i think it may be called 'the rooftop bar' and have always bumped into friendly locals who've then taken us on the piss! There's a nightclub at the top of an hotel as i remember, but last time i was in there the Police came in and closed it down! I was impressed with the amount of extremly cheap Indian curry houses, i think it was like £1.40 for the full monty ;D

The rooftop bar aka Bop Bpen Yang .... hmmm expensive dosshole with shite service . . . in my opinion There is far better places than that! The friendly locals are always ready to be guide, especially if it gets them a free drink or two! The nightclub is at the Don Chan Palace hotel - if there is any kind of meetings on in Vientiane then everything gets closed at 11.30pm. Well unless you go the bowling alley in the middle of town is open basically all night. You don't have to play - they also have snooker and pool tables, but anyway they don't stop serving! There is a few decent indians but the however just avoid the one on the Mekong road . . not good!

The bar was very expensive (for this part of world) and yes the service was shocking come to think of it! This is why its good to know someone who lives there because to be honest i haven't got a clue where to go I was suprised how clean and nice Vientiane was, in fact much cleaner and smarter than many Thai cities I will be in touch nearer the time if ok with you as i know your busy but will be appreciated if you can get out for one night
