How many posters on here were at Wembley on March 4th 1972 for the greatest day in Stoke City's history.I was to young to go but it is the one game in all of our history i wish i could have attended.Like others i've watched the video/dvd,read loads of material on it but what was it like to actually be there. Meadow Lane 1979 is my own favourite Stoke game attended, was 1972 better? The early 70's must have been a brillant time watching Stoke,League Cup final,FA Cup semi's and Europe. Please share your memories you jammy buggers

Notts County was Fookin amazin! It looked like we'd blown it, and then Richo appeared to score, I remember bollockin Big Bren for not goin for goal when he headed it back for Richo! lol

Your #1 Liverpool match would definitely be my #1 too, that was the day I really believed we were a force in the land. Your #2 Ajax was the most fun, that was as "glam" as football would ever get at Stoke

Was at wembley in 1972 a great day, our name seemed to be on the cup that year after battling past the shit and West Ham in epic battles. Was also at Meadow Lane first time I ever invaded the pitch and ended up having a little piece of it growing in the back garden :-)

Yes, can remember going to Wembley in 1972 as a spotty 14 year old. Can also remember the FA Cup Semi Finals against Arsenal and the League Cup semi's but they all seem to merge into one. I seem to think that when we played at Villa Park the end we were at was an open bank made up of cinders...is that right or have I made it up ? Cheers Adie

We are so fookin lucky in some ways to have seen the team from the 70's, it's hard to get over to some of the younger supporters how fookin good we were! lol That team in the early 70's was good, but adding Hudson, Salmon's etc made us a real force! Happy Days!

I was there. A brilliant day.
I was there for the semis in 71 and 72.
At the time I took it all for granted. What a foolish young man I was!

I was there in 72, went down by train with my dad and both grandad's. Great day.
Also there in 79, part of the pitch growing in my dad's garden to this day.
Two memorable days, glad to be back in the top flight.

I was gutted at Villa Park against the Arse in the FA cup, sadly missed wembley though in 72 (severe lack of funds at the time) but was at Meadow Lane in 79, I remember after the winning celebrations I ran out of the ground and straight into a copper, knocked him flying and thought thats me counting tiles in Notts police station but he got up, brushed himself off and said " slow down son, just do me a favour, beat them bas**rds over there next season" and pointed towards Forests floodlights! ;D
Ahh, memories.

I was also at Wembley and went away to Amsterdam to watch us draw 0-0 with Ajax.
If I remember rightly quite a lot of Stokies were 'window shopping' in the Red Light Area, I was too young and was also with my dad!
The FAC (when it really did mean something) semis against Arsenal were great to be at but felt we were cheated at the time and almost 40 years later still do, I can do bitter and twisted.

Me too March. Orrible. I was right down the front and to the left of Banksy's goal when that fuckin' penalty went in. Why did Banksy not go for it? He swayed to the left and it went in just to his right. I guess he was just wrong-footed.

A little something died inside me that day.
