Still nothing compares to that 96th minute penalty in 1971. You really had to be there to know what despair that brought to Stoke fans
The replay was insignificant - we KNEW we would not winIt still hurts today.

97/98 season - Man Citeh 2-5, Brum 0-7, Crewe 0-2. 98/99 season - take your pick. 00/01 season - Luton 1-3, Liverpool 0-8, Nuneaton 0-1, Walsall 2-4. 01/02 season - Vale 0-1 - the most gutless, passionless performance I've ever seen. 02/03 season - Forest 0-6 07/08 season - Palace 1-2 - thought we blew it.
The Vale game is my lowest personally.

Worst Prem feeling has to be Chelsea away last year, crying i was
But overall it has to be the 2001/02 season, we lost 1-0 to the Vale, itt was heartbreaking i was about 12 years old and we were awful - Gutting

man city home 98 losing 5-2, after Macari had got us out of the 3rd tier 5 years earlier i never thought we would go back and when we did it was horrible, plus i nearly got hit on the head by a brick as i left as it was really kicking off between the 2 sets of fans. That game was joint lowest moment for me, not helped by hearing Vale had won & survived. Even if we had won, which would have been unlikely the way we played, we would have still gone down as other teams won. Relegation to division 2 in 1977, my first experience of relegation, was the other equally low point.

Gordon Banks' accident - it marked the end of an era; closely followed by the moments listed by Pretzel - FA semis v Arsenal and Leics match (in the days when Leics had a brill up-n-coming team).

Newcastle away one easter monday which sent us down to division 3. cant remember exact year but we lost 3-0, it pissed down all day so got a soaking because it was before they did St James up. Think it was 1989, really really dark day

I don't know why but the worst i can remember feeling is when we lost to Notts County on pens in the Anglo Italian cup, i was standing next to Nick Hancock and he couldn't watch and kept turning his back on the pitch and i was giving him full comentry.
I don't know why but walking back to the train station i felt really low and depressed even though it was a meaningless comp to try and make a few coppers.

I've only ever left 2 games early,Blyth Spartans, where I contemplated ripping my season ticket up and the Man C relegation match where I spent the last 20 minutes of the match sat outside the ground on the grass with my head in my hands.I just couldn't watch any more. Low days indeed

in my time since going stoke 1993, my lowest is the 5 -2 defeat by man city and we went back to the third tier, it was the first time i'd purchased a season ticket too, which made it worse

Getting relegated at Newcastle was a bad way to spend Easter and a very long journey home despite the coach driver nearly tipping us over !!
The Norwich home game mentioned elsewhere was a memorable one. We managed to lose in front of the record lowest attendance in the top flight (at the time) but strangely I feel proud to have been one of the very few on the Boothen that night.

When potter hit the post after we were twated for 2 hours when Clarke and Cardiff lover got sent off, in the playoff semi. Potter? He was gone years before. Was Paul Connor. The 5-2 v Man city was more annoying for me due to the previous game. We had pulled a real rabbit out v Pompey at home with 2 late goals and given ourselves a massive lifeline and then had to go to Crewe. Think was a Bank Holiday Monday. A win would have meant that staying up was in our own hands but we played so bad and with so little passion it was untrue. I left at 2-0 down with about 25 mins to go as we hadn't even had a shot on goal and had expected us to just lay into them from the off. We were dire. Never felt so dejected walking back to the car. Couldn't believe that a side in such need of a win could put in so little effort. Of course we then needed to beat Man city and then rely on other results. Thing was there were dozens of Stoke fans leaving not only me. Felt bad doing it but couldn't take any more.

Think it was 1989, really really dark day I second that. Wasn't there, was living in Southampton at the time. Listened to the radio to get the scores and it sounded like such a predictable roll over and die performance which confirmed the inevitable. I always thought relegation to the third was something which had happened freakishly in 1926 or whenever and it couldn't happen again. The utter shame of being in the third was just so depressing. I'll never stop following Stoke but they were really tough times to keep the faith, especially so far from home

Two for me....Hillsboro1971...was standing in the centre of leppings lane ready to run on the pitch before that shocking decision by the ref to award that corner instead of a foul on Banks. Then Mahoney made that great save!!!!from the corner.
The 2nd,going down on a Monday night in 1977 at Villa Park.

Another for the 6-0 defeat at Forest. I thought we were down that day. Other ones of the top of my head, most recent 2-1 defeat at West Ham last year and thd 2-1 home defeat to palace in the promotion year, the pesimistic stokie in me thought we'd blown it! And abit longer ago, that 7 nil to Brum. I sat in the Bridgeford Upper that day as my ID Card had'nt arrived and was totally humiliated, ashamed to say it but left at 5-0 and got smashed in Notts beacause I too thought it was game up and certain relegation.
