Thought this board would be as good a place as any for this thread. It's always great following a team when you are a kiddy and actually going the games with your dad or whatever. I remember when i used to go over me grans in cheadle over the summer and stoke would send a few players/coaches down to cheadle rec to do a bit of coaching etc. Good times Another quality memory is going a friendly at stafford rangers and meeting a few of the players and getting them to sign stuff for me. Foxy, bouldy, georgie berry, neil adams and a few others. Anyone......

I started going with me dad in 1963. We used to go me grans in Shelton fer fish and chips from the chippy on corner of Darnley St and Bowey Road. We'd walk down the Vic often mingling with visiting supporters as they arrived at Stoke station. After the game we'd walk back then drive back to Wolstanton via Hanley to pick up me mum who had spent afternoon shopping. This always caused an arguement cuz mum wanted dad to pick her up outside Woolies which was always dead busy because she couldn't be arsed to walk down to Marsh Street which would have been easier on Saturday afternoons. Happy days.

My first game was a midweek game during the 71`season as a 5year old. I can vividly remember the smell as I entered the Boothen, the walk up the steps in the silvery sheen of the floodlights and my first glimpse of the verdant green pitch before me and being placed on the bars of the `upper` section so I wasnt swept away. The game was a blur, cant remember the score or who we played but from that moment I was proud to be a Potter.
Thanks Dad.

Childhood Memories...Having to wait outside the social club (where there was a postioned table/chair) with a glass or orange & packet of crisps, while in the smoggy Park Drive/Embassy haze of the bar blokes drank & sung. The Programme/Sentinel/Green Un seller: An old chap who used to sound like he was saying "ken". Getting in The Boothen early.standing at the top & looking at the awe of a large open terrace. Ballboys sponsored by either Bournes ir Dales at the time. The first brave sup on some concoction that was sold as Beefy Bovril...The tannoy system that was a combination of last years NOW album & messages that no bugger ever listened to. Night games were special...walking to the ground being enticed by those floodlights in the distance, a becon summoning you over. Then after the game, the brisk walk to make sure you got the 24 or 28 back to Foley.
1st game was the abandoned Cup game against Oldham, and i can remember snuggling up to my brothers missus sheepskin coat, to ensure that i was warm & having to buy Orange ball for subbuteo the week after from Brookfields, after seeing it for the first time.

My brother took me in the Boothen in 1992, aged ten I remember standing on the crush barriers trying to take a look at the legendairy Mark Stein up front. The noise from the Boothen was defening, I remember it was such an assault on the senses, I was scared, excited and nervous all at the same time Ahhh the memories...

Getting free tickets for Door X when I was in the school football team
Had been going with my uncle in the Butler Street stand since I was nine, but the excitement of going from Leek on Byrnes bus, and walking into the Boothen End with flares and patchwork jumper made you feel 100ft tall
Still miss the place to this day

I remember the days when we had more seats than fans at The Brit, Those were the days...How proud I was of our non-existent support, But then it was all spoilt when we became a Premier Legue team and all the glory supporters in staffordshire changed their support to SCFC.

Getting crushed going into the old Stoke End late sixties aged 7 or 8. Just happy to be with my dad, made me feel grown up. Walking miles, well it felt like it, to the toilets at the back of the old Stoke End. Blokes fighting behind us. Shouting at Kevin Keegan as he took a corner, no swearing . I don't know why my old man used to take me in there, maybe he fancied a scrap now and again, but I did enjoy it in there.

Mustn't have been a dull game or I wouldn't have continued going in all weathers.(smiley thing) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1946%E2%80%9347_Stoke_City_F.C._season

When I was tiny my dad took me a game at the Vic against Ipswich which was a 1-1 draw think it was 92 which would have made me 4 but I can remember it because I got my foot trapped between two seats and hurt my angle nothing major just enough to remember. Anyway after the game my dad carried me home on his shoulders in the sun. Almost brings a lump in my throat wondering where the time has gone. I still attend the games with my old man and brother (who was at the Ipswich game with someone else, thus making the memory more vivid since it was quality time just me and my dad)
Bet my dad can't remember such an insignificant game but to me it's still there.
I also remember kids parties at the Vic, doin laps round the pitch b4 a kick about in the gym then havin some cake with a free programme

Amazing how we seem to remember the first games. It probably wasn't Ipswich though as Stoke were in Division 3 and Ipswich in Division 2 in 91/92 and Stoke in the newly formed Division2 in 92/93 (finished as champions) and Ipswich were in the Premier.

for a young lad, i was 7 when me and my dad went for the first time, from a small market town, as banbury was back then, it was a magical experience. my aunt and uncle lived in burslem, and whenever we went to stay with them, and stoke were at home, they would get us tickets.
rows upon rows of smoke blackened houses from the smoke belted out by the myriad of pottery firms that were in business, made it a bit scary, but exciting. then in amongst it, the victoria ground, thousands of people milling about.
we sat in the butler street stand upper, and i always remembered that people we had never met, would always talk to us and be friendly. the car park on the butler st/boothen end full of holes and puddles.
i was hooked from the first time, and could never wait to go visiting again and go to a game, and that feeling has not left me for the last 44 years.
i have seen most of stokes best on the pitch throughout those years and will always be thankful to my aunt and uncle, and all those i have met and been friends with since, for making the life long stoke experience the best.

My first memory was walking down London Road from Trent Vale with my Dad. Turning right into Cooperation Street and straight into The Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
1st game I think was 1958 vs. Norwich City
There when Stan came back vs. Huddersfield
There when we got promoted vs. Luton
There at Wembley and at FA Semi Finals and reply’s
Witnessed Waddo build a great team
Watched with delight the way we played and won with Huddy, Jimmy G, Big John plus Denis my favourites, see my best team?
There at Aston Villa when we got relegated
There at Mansfield for 1st game in 2nd Div
It wasn't the same but still followed SCFC all over
Back in the 1st Div briefly and Huddy comes back to save us
Get relegated again and lose interest
Son has his 7th birthday at The Brit and I get nutmegged by Pottermus
Only now an armchair supporter until my son becomes a regular and he's bought a season ticket?
Lots of memories thank you Stoke City for all the enjoyment and pain
Let’s hope we raise our game on Sunday and cruise into The Semi Finals but remember We Are Stoke We Never Make it Easy.

Going to the game with my dad in the early 60's stopping at the PMT club for pop and crisps, then in Stoke Trades and Labour Club ( liked a pint my dad ) On to the old Stoke end. At first I was sat on the wall and dad would come down for me at full time. As I got older I sort of worked my way back towards the top! Bloody awful toilets at the bottom of the bank! Graduating to doing the same thing with mates and then with my boys, though here and there little things have changed. Clubs have gone, Dad not well enough to go down any more but still a keen armchair fan! New ground , my boys now men, but for one who sadly never saw us get to the prem. Blimey where did all that time go seems like about a fortnight.

My first game was Stoke's last agme of the season against Exeter about 1990! Me and my Dad stood in the Boothen End. I rembember Peter Fox was in goal. There was a massive pitch invasion and Mickey Thomas (I think) had his shirt ripped off. I remember thinking WTF is going on here. Absolutley Loved it. Since then Ive been through it all. Losing 4-0 away to Oxford on a Tuesday Night in the pissing down rain! Greame Potter missing that header against Leicester! Never been able to beat Vale in the 90's!Losing 5-2 to Man City and both getting relegated. The victorys against Stockport County (didn't we play them 4 times in 12 days), most noticably at the old Wembley Stadium! Watching Kyle Lightbourne score a hat-trick away at Swindon! Little Pesc scoring against Chelsea! Beating WBA on that famous last day at the Vic! A great day out at the Millenium Staduim! The direr performance against Leicester for Promotion to the Prem! A FA cup final! A European Tour!Lets keep these memories going.

Bounced around between Stone, Staffs and the US as a kid. Saw a few Stoke City and Port Vale games from 1953-55. Same again 1962-64 and a final Stoke City game in 1973. Huge thrill for me. Recently saw Port Vale in Washington State during their exhibition tour.
Saw Sir Stanley play a half at age 49 back in 1963-64. Saw him send a player half his age one way, while he and the ball went another. For Stoke fans that was the highlight of the match.
