Wow, both Sunderland and Everton should have scored goals in the last 2 min of stoppage time.

Must have been a very entertaining game for the neutral, that. Missing Bramble, Mensah, and Gyan hurt us I think. We were miles off our best though, and if we'd have won it it would have been a huge injustice on Everton. They more than deserved something out of the game. Ah well, 1 defeat in 12, 7th in the league, 1 home league defeat in 2010... I mustn't grumble. This right now is pretty much as good as it's ever been for the club during my time.
Incidentally, looks like Bramble could be missing for a couple of months, which would be a massive blow, especially without Mensah to cover. A few more games of relying on Anton Ferdinand could massively affect our form. Hopefully he'll move Onuoha there instead. You could see that Everton identified Ferdinand as a week link immediately and just lobbed the ball down his throat all night.
That's another thing... Everton are the archtypal long ball team. Get it forward from front to back quickly, and get their midfielders in positions to pick up the second ball. It was how pretty much all their attacks started tonight. Why haven't they got the "anti-football" reputation that you have? Stoke have played like Barcelona on their last two visitis to the SoL compared to Everton tonight. Baffling.

I don't know how old you pair are, but you could both learn a lesson in restraint and maturity from young scfc2010. No matter how much you zealously goad and bully him, he rises above it every time and gives a friendly and courteous answer. But then maybe you just love him really.

It was a good game. Lots and lots of good play and lots and lots of long ball from both sides.

Why was the Egyptian Elmohamady on the bench? He has really been impressive hos season bombing up and down the wing. Also have to give Bruce credit for not just picking up Zenden off the scrap pile but actually playing him. He has been great the last two matches I have seen (Chelsea and Everton).
