Kamara was a good player for us for a couple of seasons, he was hard and committed in every game. A liitle too hard if you ask Frank McAvennie, I remember he had just signed for Wet Sham and Kammy hit him hard in the first few minutes, sent him up in the air and bust his leg. Don't think he was even yellow carded for it, shows how different football is these days

I was reading through the thread and wondering if the McAvennie tackle was a bad one, or whether it had gained notoriety because of McAvennie's reaction to it (sounds familiar). I think this video clears that one up.

Great player for Stoke, was gutted when he left for Leeds. I remember against Middlesborough New Years Day 1990 he got sent off for a nothing challenge I think we won 1-0 with a goal from Tony Ellis!!

went that one
Berties cross hit Ellis on his knee & flew in.
Boro (Ayresome park, what a hole....) played a fox-hunt bugle every time they got a corner (Foxy shit him sen the 1st time ) & not when we got corners so the Stokies (oooh at least 200) did our own bugle tune.
cracking day out
we all thought we'd stay up...

If that tells us anything it tells us that the hysteria about tackling is absolutely nothing new. That tackle was from behind (not against the rules then, I don't think) and a bit late, but fairly inoccuous really. And Kammy was getting hate mail and being threatened with legal action...!

That's the one it hit his knee and went in he never did look convincing for stoke, left and hit what seemed like 30 goals when he joined Preston
Remember the bugle very well, what was that all about! It was funny as you say when the stoke fans did their own.
It was a nothing sending off though or am I wearing rose tinted glasses?

ace player for us - that should never be forgotten. I like him. Yes, let it never be forgotten. A fantastic player for this club, TP would have had him in the side week in week out Shame his dire management spell seems to have overshadowed his great contribution as a player
