That's all true WhyDelilah, but with a stronger squad comes much more to pressure to achieve.
Like you say, no one expected automatic promotion this season and a play off place was the very best we could have hoped for before the season started. TP has more than exceeded those expectations this season, but he has openly admitted in the past that he enjoys the role of the underdog and I'm not convinced he has what it takes to lead a team who are expected to win automatic promotion from day one.
Fingers crossed though he doesn't have to prove me wrong and we go up this time.

The next 6 games will tell I suppose.
I appreciate leading from the front is a completely different style of management than being the underdog. Tone deserves a lot of credit for the squad he has assembled; he also deserves credit for the atmosphere he has created within the squad. He has been under pressure at times to add new signings to the team but he has always stuck to his guns, bided his time and gone for the players he wanted, no panic buys.
We all want the premiership and I believe Tone can deliver it. It’s taken me a long time to actually believe that instead of merely hoping.

It's you wots got two degrees, Lige. I've no intention of ejucating you cus I'm a fickie. Why should we do that? You brought it up! We don't....but we are. It's on that basis I'm saying that if he blows it now, it's down to him. Six games to go and we're top of the league. Only an idiot would throw away that God given chance when we have three home games, two aginst lesser sides and three away games all against lesser sides. Your hero should walk that. Even Bossie would have a great chance of achieving that. OS.

When you are top of the league everyone is a 'lesser' side.

Exactly. Well, normally. And that's why we should win 4 of the last 6 which will take us up. OS.

The sad fact for you is that we have massively over-achieved by any standards this season, if in the end the greater resources of West Brom or Watford mean they overhaul us then it is absurd to try to paint this as a failure, we have no right to be where we are, if Pulis gets us promoted it will be an incredible achievement.

Wrong again Lige. First and foremost, I'm a Stokie. That means I'm a happy chappy to be in such a strong position. Pulis has done well to get us here. Let's see if he can finish it off. If he doesn't, given the data I've set out re who we play, then he's ballsed it up....again....just like he did at QPR last season.
OS.

Oh yeah the QPR game, the one where we had to go there and win 6-0, what a balls-up eh.

if we are still in this league come 05.05.08 it will feel like failure.
surely we would be stronger next season though?

No, Lige...the one where we had to win and hope a couple of the others slipped up. Instead, we went with 8 men back to not lose the game. Stop making excuses where there are none. You only make that hole deeper. Lordb.... We'd have to be. I'm pretty sure the points tally for promotion will not be as low as it is this season. OS.

If we can get through Saturday then I'll be hopeful once Lawrence and Fuller are back.
We should be able to get promoted automatically from where we sit now.

Sorry but I was at the game and you clearly weren't, they scored early when Simonsen let the ball slip through his hands and then we were all over them for the rest of the game. No, Lige...the one where we had to win and hope a couple of the others slipped up. Instead, we went with 8 men back to not lose the game. Stop making excuses where there are none. You want burying you miserable old cunt, mind you had boss-shit got us to this position he'd be sucking him off every minute of the day on here you can be sure of that. I'd suck him off even for finishing twelveth when he treated the matter as a part time job.

Clearly trying to converse with AGSF is a waste of time, but if you really want to do it OS then be my guest.
I think the team look very very nervous at the moment. It's Pulis' job to stop that but it must be very difficult.
Clearly some people will want the man sacked if we don't go up, but most of the same people would also want him sacked if we do.
Sacking him because of failure this season, just because people have a hunch we won't do quite so well next season, is a little mental.

My point is that I say what i think. He's been here six years now and if he can't get us out of this piss-poor league, which is what this season has been up to yet, then he never will. Your problem is that you're so far up his arse that the shit he keeps throwing at you has blinded you to reality. Ey up, Lige is back. Has anyone got a shovel? OS. Still don't get this logic. Seems to me it's just basically an attempt to belittle Pulis's achievements. If it's so piss-poor why aren't West Brom, Wolves, Southampton, Coventry, Leicester, Watford or anyone running away with it - why only Stoke that should be? Why a manager who has got us to this position with 6 games to go should come in for this level of abuse is beyond me

RE - OS-If he fails us now then why would you [and others] continue to back a failure?
From the man that travels round Europe to watch the manager with one of the worst home records ever seen at the club! And who continually has pops at one of our most successful managers of the last thirty years cos he's too full to swallow his pride!
Theres no fool like an old fool.

To be fair to us PHW's though....
Super Tone has had the biggest budget in the history of SCFC..
I think he deserves the sack if he doesn't take us up this season this.
How many chances are we going to give him?
It's ok watching shit football if it gets results, if it doesn't what's the point.?

Now why exactly would someone delete my post with the statistics showing we were all over QPR? Truth too difficult to handle is it?

The arguement that we were all over QPR makes about as much sense as the one where we blame Patto for missing the playoffs due to one miss in one game.
The important thing is one of the reasons we stalled last season was clearly due to an overly cautious outlook. Lets not see it happen again.
I'm not sure myself whether that is the reason for our slowdown this year though. Sometimes it looks like it is, but given the full picture its not so simple. We definately attacked Blackpool second half on Saturday, and Pulis made the kind of changes that he'd never have considered last season.

The lie has been allowed to develop with no recourse to what actually happened during the game, clearly some people who are moderators on here would prefer that we keep believing the lies. Why not let people make up their own mind? How in fux name did Mark Wolstanton suddenly become the arbiter of truth?

AGSF - whilst I sympathize with your position on censorship. People have not really been able to express an open view on anything on this or the previous board for quite some time.
This has been mainly due to the overzealous nature of certain individuals who see it as their role to shout down and abuse anyone who posts views that differ from their own!
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone and all that.

I was at QPR too and totally agree we were the better team without any doubt.
I honestly think most people are blinded by the score (I know I am sometimes) and a narrow victoryin a poor game is good and a defeat in a good game is tripe!
The QPR fans that we spoke to outside almost to a man said we deserved to win, not that it mattered as it turned out.

Fair enough if someone is being abusive but to delete posts which simply show statistics from a match, how the hell can that be justified?

Literally it was a copy of the statistics from the official match report, nothing else. Funny how abuse is left up when it is perpetrated by moderator's mates though.

I saw the 'offending' message it stated the corner count shot count and possession breakdown but sadly it proved Stoke had the better of the game! Maybe they should ban league tables too and then produce a fake fixture list for next season if we go up! We could convince everyone ManUre were Barnsley and Chelsea were Leicester! After all the 'expert' can't be made to look completely stupid if TP proves him wrong!
