Walters played and played really well hit the bar as well. Jon was playing just behind the striker role.

Is it at all conceivable that Walters is being lined up as someone who can also play the Mama role?
I think so, not to replace him but just someone who could do a job there...

Perhaps if we were bidding for players we had a modicum chance of landing instead of these pie in the sky players, our expectations wouldn't need dampening.

If we can't get players with Prem experience then it's time to fucking pack in. H We have got players with Prem experience and will be getting more in before the end of the window so I'm not sure what the problem is? I guess one could argue that we tend not to go for the middle players but the likes of O'Hara etc will be wanting big expensive contracts and whilst they are a step up on our current players it's only by a little bit that doesn't justify the financial outlay. We're happy to hand big money to big players but we're not going to do that for ones that are little better than what we have

we have no trouble attracting players with premiership experience but we are having trouble attracting the right players to push us on to the next level.
We think we are frustrated, imagine how TP feels, his name is stamped on the Stoke team and after taking the club from championship relegation material to within spitting distance of a top 6 premiership place he must, as much as us want to finish the job.
As for Walters, he is supposed to be brilliant in the air, he has all the make-up of a good TP player, I'm not so sure he would be a bad signing.

We need to bring players in with Prem experience or equivalent , Walters has none of this. And before we start getting all rose tinted , Pulis doesn't always deliver. Don't forget we are still trying to offload the likes of Tonge , Kitson, Beattie, et al after giving them massive wages and contracts. I happen to believe Walters isn't good enough and and we can do better. If he was that good we wouldn't be the only club in the Prem interested in him. Hopefully the rumour is a load of shit. That said if he does sign I'll be right behind him. H

You guys missed the bit we have been linked with 148 players so far and none are right. ;-) For what it's worth you can keep C.Cole he is a big fanny. The sight of the big girl chasing the ref to get fuller sent of at your place when he slapped Griffin sums him up. He aint fit to lace Fuller's boots. 12m quid fook me i will cry if we pay that for him Cheers we will keep Cole a striker who is much better than a ageing journeyman championship player who only managed 3 league goals in 22 games last year. I wonder what planet you nutjobs on here live on sometimes.

I'd prefer someone like Clyne from Palace..an England U19 international who we would get for 3 million. He wouldn't command massive wages but if he had a good season we'd have a 8 million pound player on our hands.

Good stuff from the boss. The programme made a real point of proving that Stoke do play and score some classy goals. Mention of flying over expensive players in private jets. Talk about the infrastructure and brand new training ground. Tony coming across as a great manager and getting praise from the well respected Peter Reid.
Today was an exceptional PR exercise. Well done tone.

He came across very well overall (as he usually does) but what on earth was that bullshit he was spouting at the beginning about what he'd have done with England?
Wing backs? A free role for Gerrard? "Players in their proper positions" and just one holding midfielder? Pull the other one eh Tone ;D

" Nah Chris, I'd have played Shawcross Ferdinand Terry King across the back with Barry Milner Gerrard Lampard across the middle with Emille (smashing kiddie) playing the Mama Role just infront of the midfield and Crouch up top" The papers would have a field day. It's always better to talk a great game on tv! H

Although i genuinely believe he doesn't intend it as patronising....i've got a mate from Sunderland who calls me "young un" even though i am 10 years his senior and pushing 50. It pisses me off, but i know its just what he calls folk.

I wonder what planet you nutjobs on here live on sometimes. who's position would you like to be in? WHU - Drowning in debt, a squad full of players that just avoided relegation (including Carlton Cole) and a couple of dildo's as your chairmen trying to sign the likes of beckham, joe cole and thierry henry on mahoosive wages to add to your debt. or Stoke City F.C -A Stoke City supporting cash rich Chairman, Financially stable, in the black, well run club that refuse to pay over the odds for players such as Carlton Cole even though we have the money to do so. We have a good solid team (wether we play tippy tappy pretty stuff or not, it's effective or else other clubs wouldn't moan so much.) But the best part is we have the funds to build on what we have and make things even better by signing the right players to take us to the next level. When we add that bit of creativity and goals onto an allready strong defence, we will like it or not be pissing over the likes of WHU on a weekly basis, and all for a lot less outlay on wage structure than yours and most of the other premiership teams, now that is some achievement, wouldn't you agree?
