Honestly though? I was sort of thinking that if we don't get a striker in, he'd be featuring for us at some point

Much better for him to be at a club where he will, hopefully, get plenty of time on the pitch, than stay at Stoke and spend most of his time on the bench between reserve games. I'm sure loans are the best route for youngsters once they leave the academy - didn't do Ben Marshall any harm. Obviously REALLY good players like Rooney can break into a Prem first team at 17 but most players can't.
Good luck Louis - come back a better player with a few league goals to your name.

This loan could be because we are close to signing a forward

This loan could be because we are close to signing a forward Would be no sense otherwise. We must be really confident in getting at least one striker in within a few days. Or have Beattie and Kitson become TP's new friends? ;D

If he was any good he wouldnt be going out on loan. What a stupid comment, he's 18...in TP terms he's positively an embryo. The fact that he got a bit of pitch time at the end of last season shows the clubs intention to nurture him towards our first team. I despair

A very good move for the lad IMO. He needs to get involved with the 'rough and tumble' of competative football and develope his experience. Very few younsters are ready to simply throw themselves into Premier League football and he's unlikely to see much action at Stoke this season. Bradford SHOULD be mounting a challenge for promotion this season and it gives him a great chance to push himself forward at a good club. Hopefully, we'll get an improved player at the end of his loan who is capable of pushing for our squad in the near future. By the way bostedclog, I wonder if Manchester United thought Beckham wasn't good enough when they sent him on loan to Preston.

The fact that he got a bit of pitch time at the end of last season shows the clubs intention to nurture him towards our first team. I despair True. We don't have a great recent history of bringing on youngsters at Stoke but sending them out on loan at 18 makes sense. To hear some posters on here you'd think TP was the only manager who sends his youngsters out on loan. ALL the Premier League clubs do it and it doesn't seem to have done players like Defoe and Beckham any harm! The problem is that the higher up the league pyramid a club goes, the harder it is for academy graduates to simply step into first team football at their club - and the more sense it makes for a loan to a lower league club.

Personally, I think a 3 month successful loan spell at Bradford, with a view to extending it for the season would do him great. Just think if he bangs 20 + goals in for them.
Good Luck youth... !!

Better for him to go on loan and play most weeks than sitting on the bench every week. TP must have replacements up his sleeve or this wouldn't happen IMO.

He needs to be playing regularly so its a good move for him. Shame Thorney isnt still there as I am sure he would have passed on some decent advice about how to find the back of the net. As for the impact on our squad....the attacking options currently are very worrying.

I would of sent him to Crewe so Dario could get his hands on him (literally), but seriously I think they would of been the best club for him in league 2 if he was guranteed to play that is imo

If he was any good he wouldnt be going out on loan. Like David Beckham when he went Preston, or Frank Lampard or Jermaine Defoe or Peter Crouch!
